We're using our points to stay at the Grand Californian at Disneyland in October. We booked standard view for 4 nights, but recently added an extra night at the begining of our trip. They didn't have any standard view rooms left. We booked pool/park view for the first night. I was just wondering if there is any chance they might upgrade our entire stay to pool/park view? I know the chances are slim...just hoping for some encouraging stories!

They did offer to change our reservation to pool/park view for the entire stay for extra points of course, but we declined. We've had good luck tipping the person who checks us in for an upgrade at other hotels (non-Disney), like most recently in Hawaii for one $40 tip we we're upgraded to a gorgeous view of Waikiki beach for our six day stay! Do you think tipping at check-in might help?

It's possible that they will upgrade you for the entire stay. A lot will depend on what is available - obviously if they are at or near capacity, it will be almost impossible for them to do so.

We were upgraded from a standard to a pool view at the Disneyland Hotel when we stayed there in 2006 on points. We didn't ask - someone apparently decided to do it for us before we even arrived. (Ans we had two rooms). So I know it can be done if everything works out.

I've never heard of anyone tipping the check in CMs for a better room - I don't think they are allowed to accept tips for that. It's also possible that the rooms are mostly preassigned.

Do ask at check in if they can figure out a way for you to stay n the same room for the whole trip. Maybe a standard view room will be available then or maybe you will get upgraded. Good luck!
