I was at my Doctor's office last week and he mentioned that he took a pedometer with him the last time he went to DL. He said his family walked 7 miles that day. I was wondering have any of you guys bought a pedometer with you and if you did, which model did you buy? I forgot to ask my Doc..

Does riding a roller coaster with a pedometer mess up the readings? I ask because all of the models I see on amazon are all gps based.

I have a fitbit. It is small and fits nicely in your pocket. I love taking it to Disneyland....we easily do 17,000 steps or more (7 miles easy!). Car rides or roller coasters don't effect it and it syncs to your computer and smart phone app.

I have an Omron, forgot the model. Not sure how accurate it is with all of the rides, but during Thanksgiving week 2011, logged 16 miles on the Wednesday before turkey day, averaged 9 miles over 5 days that week. Needless to say, I am always the FP runner.

I have a basic one given to me from work for a walking challenge. I don't think rides affected it.
I easily logged anywhere from 18,000-22,000 depending on the day.

Fitbit One!! I forgot to change mine last trip from chicago time, i was so pissed that it reset at 10pm ... I was at 19,980 steps!!

We bought my DD7 a fitbit One also for this trip to encourage the importance of movement. She loves that she beats me every day (shorter stride = more steps)!! I average about 17,000 each day of our trip (lots of park hopping).

I LOVE the fitbit one!!!

I also take a pedometer with me everywhere I go (I have a Fitbit so I'm actually wearing it all the time!). It's fun to see how many steps one takes whiles at DLR (or anywhere really). The Fitbit is based on movement, so things like coasters might affect it, but it's not going to be a huge number of steps. It probably varies by device as well. It might be interesting to glance at the step count before you get on and then again just as you exit to see if the number went up.

If you use a GPS to log mileage (distance), then yes, rides can mess it up because the GPS doesn't know if you walking or driving or riding. I also carry around a Garmin GPS so I can roughly see what path(s) we took curing the day. It doesn't work well in most rides (inside building), but it's still fun.

Yes, we take one. One day my DD and I did 25,000 steps. On average we did about 18,000.

DH has a FitBit one. Last trip on a day we felt we didn't walk all that much, we walked 11 miles! He LOVES it!

My FitBit registers on rides. It counted something like 13 flights of stairs on the Matterhorn. It also had a field day on Screamin.

You deserve credit for every bump you take on the Matterhorn. ;)

I love my fit bit. Going to disneyland for the first time in June and I can't wait to wear my fit bit. I love the emails that it gives you at the end of a year. I walked farther than the sahara dessert last year.

Good to know, thanks SMD. My friends have the bracelet one and have said they've seen it adding steps when they are driving on a bumpy road, etc. We will have to pay close attention to DH next trip:thumbsup2

I love my fitbit one! I easily get 20,000 steps while at Disneyland.

The most steps I ever got in one day was 30,000 in Las Vegas where all we did was walk the strip all day and night checking out all the different hotel and casinos.

We don't have a pedometer or anything....I just know that my partner and I both lost 2 lbs each in 3.5 days of walking around both parks on our last trip!

I've had the Fitbit Zip for over a year now and I love it. I wore it on our Disney vacation this week and got some impressive step counts! We were in the parks for 3 days and logged just over 12 miles on day one, 11 miles on day two and 14 miles on day three. It's amazing to see just how much walking a fun day in the parks involves! :)

I highly recommend any of the fitbit devices. I've had all of them and I love them!! I love that they sync to my iPhone and matches up with My Fitness Pal if you use that app as well. Average walking when I took mine on my last trip was between 7 to 9 miles a day.

i got one on Walmart or amazon when i started working out in jan. I like looking at it and seeing what i've done each day when i am out. It is in my fanny pack so only when i'm out does it could because my fanny pack is my purse. ill never forget it Lol.
any ways with it and my work out at school since jan i've lost 12 in half pounds so I am happy and yep cant wait to use it in dl in nov and sea world in June.
Mine is an omron or something like that

I took my fitbit last time we were there (staying at the Hojo, so a bit of a walk) and walked between 20,000 and 30,000 steps a day.
