Helenabear, sorry to read of your Mom's passing. I certainly can understand your perspective; my DW lost both of her parents when she was quite young but remains a devout Catholic nevertheless. Faith can provide great healing and succor. Even if God does not exist, people can indeed derive considerable comfort from the perception of his presence; the reality of his existence really becomes a secondary consideration.......
'XACTLY. I think we think alike

When I was younger I used to wonder if God was real, or if he was just like Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy
I belive the power of the mind is a wonderful thing, it can conjure up a bearded white man in a robe, sitting high atop the clouds, dictating all the what-ifs of every single person on the face of this planet, not to mention plants, animals, and the like.....it can also conjure up a more scientific approach geared toward rationale and logic, explaining everything in a more "dry" sense. Nonetheless, it seems it's good to at least "believe" in something - what I believe in is GOOD. There are some real ********* (for you wagamama
) out there who get their jollies from hurting people, animals, environment, whatever - I don't know if they're in God's Plan or not, but I still think they're jerks. Ok done rambling now
