I'm booked with the regular dining plan for a week. We plan on being up early, and we usually like to eat a good breakfast before doing much. I'd imagine we want lunch some time in the afternoon, and then dinner around 7pm or so. A snack somewhere in there too. Assuming we do eat like this, it means we will have to pay OOP for either breakfast or lunch every day. I'm saving the TS credits for dinners since those are most expensive. Has anyone never paid OOP for food while on the regular dining plan? We'd prefer not to, but don't want to be hungry and crabby either ;) No kids, just me and my boyfriend.

depending on your appetites, you might want to give sharing meals a try... we often split the b'fast platter and added in a bagel (cash or snack credit) to stretch it a little further... plus CS b'fast comes w/two beverages, so you could each get a coffee or other drink...

We only pay OOP when:

we book a table service breakfast one morning--those are cheaper than table service dinners and this lets us use our table service credit for that
or
we book a two-credit meal one night (usually the Yachtsman for us) and need to eat a dinner somewhere else one night.

Breakfast no longer comes with 2 beverages as of 2011.

The one year we did the Basic dining plan we paid OOP for character or resort breakfasts. We too, like a good breakfast in the early morning (7:30-8:00ish). The one morning we just did pasteries, we were all starving by 11 AM. When we eat a breakfast of eggs and other protein we just feel so much better.

We also got sick of CS lunches every day and added 2-3 TS lunches that we paid OOP for. We did a signature twice and paid OOP for dinners at Rose and Crown and House of Blues so we had the credits for Flying Fish, and Yachtsman.

When the Deluxe plan was introduced the following year, we hopped on it. We spent WAY LESS for difference between the Basic and Deluxe plans than we spent OOP using the Basic. The Deluxe plan saved us a lot of money. We do early breakfast, lunch around 12-12:30, dinner around 7:30-8:00 for the most part.
