Ever heard of Re-hitching Ceremony at Garden Grill???

I don't know where I read about it, but there's a re-hitching ceremony that CM's perform at the Garden Grill in Epcot. It can even be during Mickey's Ice Cream Social. All you have to do is tell the reservationist at the time of booking and then mention it to the check in desk and maybe even your CM. I don't know anything about it, but the idea of it sounds fun!:p

If anyone has witnessed this or has done it, please share...

keep in mind when you make the PS for the garden grill and request the re-hitchin' the CM usually does not know what you are referring to. just make sure they note it on the reservation. and then mention it again when checking in w/the host(ess). the CM/waiter is the officiant and sometimes if you are really lucky one of the characters will be the attendant. we have never been lucky.:( but the best part is you get to kiss to the count of 100!! you know like this: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,.....100!!! it is a lot of fun and does not take long. enjoy!!:tongue:
 
I've heard of it & have thought about surprising DH on our upcoming trip, we will have just celebrated our 10th anniv. when we go. I thought it would be fun for the kids as well.
 

There have been several posts lately that they aren't doing this during the Ice Cream Social anymore, just make sure if that's what you're wanting to do.

I have it planned for our dinner in Sept!
 
I'm going for the Ice Cream Social so I guess I'm out of luck on that one. When I make my PS for it I'll ask just incase though.

The rehitchin' ceremony is loads of fun. Your server will act as the justice of the peace. Usually they will make a rather loud announcement about not being invited or not being able to attend your wedding, so it's not really "official." So you've come to Disney to make it all right now.

You'll be asked to stand and repeat your "I do's" again so you can get "rehitched." Then you kiss while everyone within earshot counts to 100! (They count to 10 by 1's, then from 10 to 100 by 10's). If you're lucky (!), the server will really draw out the counting. Who've thought counting to 100 by 10's could take so long!!!

Afterward you get a certificate to commemorate the event. When my DW and I did this, we also got a nice cake for dessert -- the cake will easily serve several people.

Yes, the event can be slightly embarrassing but also a ton 'o fun! And it makes for a great magical Disney memory!
 
Just did it at lunch on July 7th. Didn't tell DH, but asked about it when I checked in. We had dessert and were ready to go. I figured they'd forgotten about us, but then a CM came out and said loudly, "Ok, who's getting Rehitched here." I said we are and handed the camera over to our friends. He asked our names and how long we'd been married. Then he made the announcement about not being invited to our wedding so we were going to redo it here. Had to say our "I do"s (I purposely hesitated! ;) ). Then we did the kiss and got our certificate.

I thought it was lots of fun!
 
We were planning on taking my mil here for lunch so when I spoke to wdw dining they gave me the tel. number to the restaurant, and I specificly asked them if they were still doing the re-hitching ceremony during the ice cream social and the answer was yes. So, I will be requesting it when I make my Ps's

Just curious, I have a PS for the lunch, and I know that it is a Family styly dining, but I asked about the cake and she said it is an extra $12???
 
eeyore45, what they don't tell you is that they give a small 6" round cake to the b-day person for free. If you want some for your party then you can order the other cakes they have. Just make sure you note it on your Ps that there is a b-day and who the b-day person is. Hope this helps.

Oooooh I wonder if my sister would be mad if I surprised she and my BIL with the rehitchin' ??? Hee Hee! :p Our trip is 3wks after their 10 yr anniversary. Someone mentioned a cake for a b-day....Is there a cake for the rehitchin' and is that cake 6.00? Thanks!!!
