Ever hear of a vasectomy not working?

Yeah....I can sympathize with you! DH didn't follow up either. The doctors office was 20 miles one direction...and he worked 20 miles the other direction. GET THIS....He wanted ME to take his....errrr...SAMPLE to the lab! :scared: Ummm....NO WAY...NO HOW! If we end up with a 4th, it's HIS FAULT! And I can't think of anyone who would side with him in that arguement! LOL!

(BTW....can you imagine getting pulled over and searched on the way to the lab?!? OMG! :faint:)

No biggie, I brought DH's. No point in him missing work.

This made me laugh out loud! :rotfl2:

My dad and DH had worst-case-scenarios happen with their vasectomies, so I try not to let them speak to anyone I know who is going in for the procedure. :lmao:

Is it that their anestesia didn't work? DH takes enough local to numb a buffalo...LOL! Apparently the doc didn't give him enough during the procedure.

Before you read the next part....keep in mind that I love my husband dearly. i would never wish him harm. But I'm usually the first person in the room to laugh when someone trips. :headache: Not that I don't feel bad for you...it's just...:confused3 (unless we're talking serious injury....that's different)

While I'm sure it hurt and I do feel sorry for him...I also do not feel guilty for not shedding any tears. You see, MY doc also did not give ME enough pain meds when i had back labor (and eventually a 4th degree epesiotomy) with our 1st ds...who turned out to weigh 9lbs15oz! DH SLEPT in the same room as me while I was in labor. (And it was only a 7 hour labor start to finish, so it's not like we were there for days...We had only been at the hospital for an HOUR when he decided he needed a nap....:sad2: ) And he never appoligized for sleeping while I was writhing in pain next to him! I figure that sometimes that whole *what goes around comes around* analogy is true...::yes::

Yeah....I suppose that makes me evil....:rolleyes1

They told us you are not protected for at least 30 um, how shall I say this without TMI or getting censored - ejaculations - before going back for the sperm count test to see if he's in the clear.

 That might take us a year :rolleyes1 :lmao:

:worship: You're a better woman than me! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: It was in a brown paper baggie, luckily I have a "mom" purse, you know the ones that could hold a sink, and jut tucked it in there.

These threads always scare me, and FWIW DH was not numb either, he said he felt the whole thing. But to be fair, it was a 15 min procedure vs 20 hrs labor. I win

Yes I have, and I live in terror that it could happen to me! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

DH got his done a week ago. He said the numbing shot did very little and he felt a lot of it. Poor guy. Ironically, he is a post vasectomy baby himself...

I had a co-worker who got pregnant years after her husband's vasectomy. It was a second marriage for him and he had been snipped while still married to the first wife. No one was more surprised than them when she turned up pregnant. Worked out well for me since she was ready to go out on maternity leave just about the time DD was turning a year old and I was ready to go back to work. So I went back as a temp to cover her maternity leave and ended up staying there for two years to work on a special project!

DH was ready to go start on his "homework" after day 2. LOL BY his 6 wk checkup we were A-OK

2 days after surgery? :scared1: DH had his done on Monday night & can barely get out of bed yet - BUT he did have a major umbilical hernia removed AND an inguinal hernia repaired at the same time - so he has a belly incision, a groin incision plus the vasectomy....he is hurting! I think I'm going to have to pay up for a loooong time, convincing him to get the vasectomy at the same time as the other surgeries. The kids & I are going away next week (if he can get around by himself til then) - I'm hoping he starts on his "30 shots" while I'm gone!! :rotfl2: Although he's in so much pain he said that's the farthest thing from his mind right now!

And I can top the "taking the sample" stories - our neighbor is the urologist that did the operation - HE offered to take the sample in to his office (he's in another state so it will save us a trip over there) - can you imagine how uncomfortable that will be?? Ding Dong...oh hey Frank, here's Scott's sample for you to take along to work!

Being a urologist, I'm sure this was no problem at all. After all, he's seen the source and plumbing for the Stuff in all of its gory detail a thousand times! :scared1: :)

I'm not quite sure what happened with my dad's. They told him he could have it done on his lunch hour and return to work without any trouble, so he did. Well, he wound up coming home early, and went straight to bed. He was in terrible pain for awhile, then asked my mom to check on it. He was in the hospital for 3 days afterward, and she said she's never been able to look at eggplant the same way since. :scared1:

Of course DH heard all about this and many other horror stories before his procedure. He planned to take the day off work anyway, just in case he didn't feel up to going back to work.

The urologist clipped and then lost the vas deferens, it apparently retracted. So she reached in and grabbed it and gave it a good tug so she had enough to work on, and tugged a couple more times when she didn't get "enough." DH said it was so painful he almost fell off the bed and passed out. She was really surprised by his reaction, and not terribly sympathetic, and said his vas deferens must be shorter than normal. He was really sore and a bit swollen on that for quite awhile afterward, long after the other side had healed. :confused3

Ive heard both statistics, both from my doctor prior to the procedure. He said that the critical time is right after the procedure to the 30 day checkup with sperm analysis. then, he said that with every year that passes the chance increases for the sperm count to go back up again. So, I guess he was covering himself on both ends there...

Glad to know someone sees it from my point of view! :lmao:

Just curious....and I've probably asked you this before, so I appoligize if I have. Are you in Baton Rouge? Interesting that 2 LSU girls have hubbies with the same Vas experiance...LOL!

I am in BR..The Urology Group behind the Lake?

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2: Because DH also had abdominal & groin surgery at the same time as his vasectomy, he can't bend over to "check his area" to be sure it's healing ok....so I get to do the honor...and when you mentioned eggplant - OMG I knew exactly what your mom meant!!!

Yeah, I was about 8yo when all this happened, and didn't know what eggplant was. I was an adult by the time I figured out what she was talking about. YEESH!! :scared1:

Happened to a family I know. He was snipped, she was snipped as well and the still had more kids. Ended up with 13 kids, none multiples. Yikes!

haha my best friend and her brother right older than her were both 'failed' vasectomy's.

As long as you get the zero count after you should be fine.
