ever hear any funny comments from novices to the world?

Some friends and I were at WDW on biz a few years ago, and a couple with us were sorely disappointed that there was no complimentary transortation to Universal. I understand their confusion. After all, there are many people in this part of the country who don't know that DLR is in California and WDW is in Florida. I don't understand anyone who grew up in the 50s or 60s could not know the difference(because there was only DLR and it was a BIG deal---it was covered in all the papers!). I forgive those who were born after 1971;)

We went to WDW in April. When we got home MIL wanted to know if we saw the new coaster Mummy. We said there was no new coaster in WDW. She insisted there was. Turns out it was in Universal, where we did not go. She replied. "Same thing."

We were standing in line at Epcot entrance and heard a mother telling her two teenage boys, "Now we only have an hour here to see everything, this park is not that big anyway, so just hurry up"! Apparantly she never had been to Epcot if she thought she was going to see everything in an hour! My DH. and DD just laughed about this one!!

Once we were the only one on the bus to MK except for one other family that had just gotten to WDW. The Dad said "Okay, here's the plan, *blah, blah, blah* & we're not going to be like those families you hear about getting upset with their kids & the kids crying in the middle of the park. We're gonna take it easy & have a good time *blah, blah, blah*" Dh & I just smiled at each other. The kids (4 I think) went to the back of the & started jumping around, when we were getting off the bus the dad was saying rather harshly - "I told all of you to sit down & be still,*blah, blah, blah*" Dh & I got off the bus laughing, we still laugh at that family. Poor man, his game plan was shot before he ever reached the first park!:teeth:

We were on the Express monorail from Magic Kingdom (going to switch to the Epcot line at TTC). A father was arguing with his wife telling her that the monorail would stop at the Grand Floridian so they could get off and that it just hadn't stopped the last time because it only stopped every other time.

Of course, the Express monorail only stops at the MK and TTC, not the resorts. So, I explained this to them and told them that they could switch to the Resort monorail at the TTC and that the Resort monorail would stop at the Grand Floridian.

When we were getting off, he turned to his wife and said: "She doesn't know what she is talking about. It will stop at the Grand Floridian this time around.

We managed not to laugh at them and I did wonder how many trips around and around they went on the Express monorail before they finally understood that it wasn't going to stop anyplace other than the MK or TTC(smile).

A friend at exercise class had told us that she just got back from WDW. I said Oh my gosh! Did your son have a great time?
She said yes, but there were some long lines.
I asked her if she went through POTC ride. She said, I think so.
I told her she would remember it because you get to the ships, look up and see a beautiful sky. It almost looks like you are outside. Oh, she said, you mean the Peter Pan ride......NO!
I mean PotC. You know, pirates, cannons, ships. Yea, we rode that, but I don't remember the sky.

Man...that is what my kids love about that ride. (aside from the "cannons" blasting over our heads?:D

My DD13 went to Florida with her best friend's family a week after we had gotten back from WDW in 2000. They spent one day at Busch Gardens, and one day at the MK.

This year she went with them again a month after we had gotten back. They hadn't decided if they would just spend the whole time at the beach or spend one day at a park. If they decided on a park, they'd let the 4 kids (friend's brother-16 and his friend-17, were also along) decide between Busch Gardens and MGM. They "didn't want to go to WDW again, because they saw the mouse last time." I just chuckled to myself and didn't bother telling them that MGM IS in WDW, and that just because you went to the MK for one day 4 years ago doesn't mean you've seen it all! I figured I'd just let DD straighten them out if need be.

We would like to take DD's friend with us sometime, so at least one member of her family will know the truth! HAHA
