If so, did anything help it?

I think this is what I have.

On Saturday morning, a small area on my neck was itchy. I scratched it but could see no bite mark, red mark, welt, nothing. The area proceeded to continue to itch for the next few hours but there was just nothing to see. It was red where I had repeatedly rubbed it but, as I said, no marks, scratches, nothing.

Out of frustration, I grabbed a tube of fairly strong prescription cortisone cream (Lidex). I've used it before on other areas with no issues but I guess never anywhere where the skin is so thin. I rubbed a small amount into the area.

About an hour later, the area (size of a nickel) was FLAMING red, puffy, itchy, and it painful. Yesterday it was the same. I started use zinc oxide on it which has helped, but now it is getting scaly looking, almost like a scab but not quite. I think it is a burn caused by the cream. :confused3

So, what do you think might soothe it. I do think it is improving but very slowly.
