I'm considering a solo trip in October...something I've never done before. Anyone out there ever do this?? Of course I'm hoping I'll meet up with some Dis'ers...but I think a trip by myself would be good for me.:confused3

I suddenly found myself with a week free last month and made a last-minute solo trip to DL. I had a blast! I was able to take the time to slow down and appreciate all the little things that people in groups tend to rush by: the windows on Main Street, the gold spike in Sleeping Beauty Castle, the petrified tree in Frontierland. I also booked the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour and met a nice group of interesting people. And I took the time to actually talk to various CMs, which was an absolute joy. Oh, and I also visited the so-called "secret" bathroom.

It would be icing on the cake if you were able to meet other Dis'ers while at DL, but believe me, you'll have a wonderful time even if you don't.

I would love a solo trip, not in my future for years, but it would be soooooo fun. do what I want, when I want. Go for it. :rotfl:

Rosie, gf...how sooon do we forget about my nov/dec trip???? remember, I went alone too...well except for 2 days...but I absolutely had a blast and this last trip when I didnt go alone I actually wished I had of gone by myself:rotfl: because I didnt get to do half of what I did when I went by myself...go for it...you wont regret it:thumbsup2

I’ve done solo. But it was a few years ago. I’ve vacationed, gone to movies, had dinner out and many other things solo. So I’m comfortable by myself. (gezze did that sound lame to you? LOL) Some people are not.

I do find that people have a tenancy to talk to solo people more. Or it may be that I have a habit of talking to strangers when by myself. The only time at Disneyland that I felt a bit uncomfortable was when the bus drive asked me what I was doing that evening. He pressed it a bit much. I finally told him my husband back home probably wouldn’t be please if I went out with another man while on vacation. No, I wasn’t wearing a ring and no, I really wasn’t married. But ya know Disney is one place that I’ve felt very safe.

Funnygarcia just did a 4 day trip alone when we met up with her in February!! She can give you more details, but from what she said, she had a great time!!

I personally am not comfortable alone. I just have way more fun going there with friends and family that I love. I think I would be lonely if I did a solo trip!! But unlike PP, I don't do movies or restaurants alone either, just not as much fun for me!!

But if you think you want to, I would totally give it a try!!

Me too - I rather do things with others than go solo. Now shopping, that's a different story!! If you're considering it - without a doubt I know you will have a wonderful time! Go for it!:)

Well then we'll have to just plan "solo" trips at the same exact time!! Best of both worlds I say!! :rotfl:

rosiep - Are you in need of some CA sunshine? Go for it, there's always some interesting people to talk to while you're waiting in line. I've gone to DL alone in the evenings when I've been in S. CA for training or conferences, it sure beats sitting in a hotel room.

I love hitting DL & DCA by myself. I do it all the time and it's fun! :cutie: I pin trade with CM's, eat my dole whip float and mickey pancake, shop, etc. It's awesome and there's no one with me nagging me to leave or do this or that. :yay:

I prefer traveling with someone, because I'm always wanting to say, "WOW! Did you see that?!" or "I don't know what I want; what are you having?" :rotfl:

I love traveling with my DH, and now that we have kids we move a lot slower, everything takes more time, and there are definitely a lot more opinions to be considered. I sure can see the attraction of being by yourself! You can wait in a long line for something you really want to see without someone (who doesn't) whining in your ear. No one is begging for something to eat or a toy every 5 minutes. If you want to go on Splash Mountain 15 times in a row, you can. And how cool to meet up with some friends there? :thumbsup2

I'm embarrassed to say I did that a lot during the fireworks. But I'd forgotten DH and DS6 left to go ride Splash Mountain!

What a relief when DS2 woke during the big booms near the end. At least then I could look like I was talking to someone other than myself! :rotfl:

Oh good, then we "have" to go so you don't look like a looney!! I think if I went alone the most amazing things and character interactions would happen and I wouldn't be able to share it with anyone!!

The same thing happened last year, it was just me and DS 7 months! We went to the bathroom and after we came out, DH and the girls were somewhere else. Well of course at that moment, Captain Hook, Wendy and Peter Pan come by and spend about 15 minutes just with me and the baby (he was facing outward in a baby bjorn and they were all over him!) Nathan kept sticking his tongue out only when Captain Hook would get close to him and talk to him. Well Wendy and Peter had a ball with that one, sticking theirs out at him too and making fun of him a lot!! It was great!! But I had no one to take pictures or film it!! It will live in my memory forever though!

Then about 3 hours later, we saw them again walking by and they waved and Wendy called out to us, "Please, stop the tongue baby" and so we stopped and they had us alone for another 10 minutes or so getting DS to play the game again and joining everyon around in on it!!

I imagine if I went alone, something wonderful woudl happen and I would have no one to share it with (or any proof) Like I'd go alone and then win the night in the Penthouse or something! ;)

I am now definitely planning it! I originally thought October, but last trip I missed HM as it is originally, and I think I want to see that. I do not like crowds or heat so it has to be winter months. What's January like??? Any one know what regularly closes during January and what the park hours are like???

Rosie, did you check and see when they remove the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay? I thought they left it up until sometime after Christmas, and I'm not sure how long it's closed while they take it down.

The first few weeks in January. Pooh! I don't want to wait that long...but I may have to. Crowds and heat are deal breakers for me. Late January might work.....

HM goes down around the second week of January (maybe somewhere in 4-10) I think for about two weeks!! But the last week of January is a great time to go!
