Where the headache is so bad, that it makes the rest of you feel sick? I get migranes, and last night I had one that made me feel so sick. It upset my stomach, made me feel nauseaus, and I had no energy. I took some asprin, went to bed, and woke up feeling fine though. :confused3

Glad your feeling fine today

I have one of those headaches starting :headache:

I hate those headaches :headache:

I've been getting them since I was a teenager and I just go to bed too. I used to go to a Chiropracter and he helped me alot. I had many pinched nerves in the neck, which were causing me headaches.

I don't get the headaches as much anymore (maybe once every couple months), but when I do, my day is done :(

Yep, I get them, although I do not consider myself a migraine sufferer. I get exactly what you get--intense pain, nauseous, sensitive to noise and light, exhaustion, etc, but mine only seem to need some Motrin and some sleep to get rid of them, unlike migraine sufferers where they go on for a day or more.

Thanks guys - Glad (well, not glad, but you know what I mean) that I'm not alone.

Last night was a bad night for one too. We took our 5 year old to see Monsters Inc. On Ice, and I just couldn't enjoy it with him because I felt so sick.

Can you start keeping a headache journal to see what might be triggering the migraines? I have them with my monthly cycle, but since it looks like you're a guy from your signature, I assume that's not the issue! I know that they say that it's better to head off the pain before it starts, so in my case, I have to start taking meds before the headache comes. My doctor gave me some Duradrin for the pain, but it doesn't really kick it out completely. I have some months when I live with the headache for 4 days or so. I wake up in the morning with the pain, and have to just go ahead and get up, even if it's way earlier than my usual time. I think it's worth talking to your doctor and seeing if you can isolate what's contributing. There have been many helpful threads here, and you'll see that people have taken many different meds for their problem. Good luck to you! :sunny:

I have a reasonably good idea what is causing them. I work from 7:00AM to 5:00PM, and I sit in front of a computer screen the entire time. I'm literally not even a foot away from the screen. On the weekends, I'm fine. But on a busy day, I'll answer 200 phone calls. Between that and the computer screen, I'll leave work with a headache. Normally, I just go home, take a nap, wake up an hour or so later and I feel fine. Last night it was bedtime anyway, so I just was out for the night.

I wonder if you should try taking a pain reliever sometime in the afternoon before the headache hits. Do you think it's the stress of the job, or something more like eye strain and neck strain from sitting in front of the computer all day? As much as you can identify the causes, the more helpful your doctor will be able to be. Do you ever get the migraines on the weekend?

boomhauer,
These sound like tension/stress headaches probably caused by the way your are sitting. Also, being too focused on the computer and phone causes you to tense your muscles all day long and will start the headache. I know because this is what I do all day too. I do not take the amount of calls that you do, but I sit in a cubicle with my face in the monitor for 7 hours a days. When I talk on the phone, I find I am even more stationary and tense.

I don't know what will help besides the obvious of getting up and moving around more--but sometimes you can't. I tell you, desk jobs are LETHAL to your health. My DH is an electrician and he moves around all day and he is very physcially healthy and doesn't have the aches and pains that I do.

I have started taking Excedrin Tension Headache medication, and it does help the headache. It's the best I've used so far. Last night, with all the lights and noises at the show, it just made it that much worse.

It's so true. Desk jobs are VERY lethal on your health. Human being were not meant to sit in little tiny cubicles without movement for 8 hours a day.

My sympathies to you. I can totally relate. Today makes one full month that I've had a headache. It waxes and wanes, but is always there. Sometimes it's accompanied by ear or eye pain, intense pressure over my temple or pain in my face. My doctor is on a wild goose chase trying to find out what's causing it. So far, we've ruled out cancer (though it could still be a tumor or something.... brain worms, alien implant, etc. ;) ), sinuses and eyes. I have an MRI coming up soon.
I've had headaches since I was a kid, at least one a week, most of the time more like 4 or 5 days out of the week.
At any rate, sympathy and  from someone who's been there. :)

Yes.... several times a year. They are HORRIBLE.

Glad you are feeling better.

When I get migraines my whole body feels sick. I feel like I'm going to throw up, I want to lock myself away, and I can't concentrate. I had one a few days ago and my head felt like it was going to explode. I took my Rx meds as soon as I knew it was going to be bad (I usually try to hold out), but it hit quickly. That usually happens if I've had a lot of chocolate, had alcohol, very stressed, etc, but this time there had been no obvious triggers so it caught me by surprise.

My migraines are totally debilitating. I take Relpax to stop the attack and CoQ10 to help make them less frequent.

yes,

I've found that many tv commercials now are broken down into really short bursts of images flashing every 2 or 3 seconds with lots of flashing lights. I can't watch them because they trigger a headache that is just like you describe.

I get nauseous and it lasts for hours. The only thing I can do is go to a dark room with lots of quiet, pain reliever really doesn't seem to help.
