Ever flown in just for a day?

Ok, so I put in my cd of the Candlelight Processional today, and after listening to it three times, am now contemplating flying in just for a one night stay to see the show. We have come the last several years in December, and this performance is always a highlight for me. This year we took our family trip in October and had a wonderful time, and are even planning a larger extended family trip for spring, but somehow I am now wondering if there might be a way to sneak in an ultra quick trip, maybe with my mom, primarily to see the show. I found a really great airfare, so I was just wondering, has anyone ever flown in for just a one day trip before?

I am sure people have. But for me it would be torture not to get a chance to go to the Magic Kingdom during the holidays. Once there I would be tempted to go over to the Grand Floridian for some gingerbread, that in turn would lead to me wanting to go to the Studios for Osborne Lights. Then it would be torture not to go over to the BW and BCV for those fantastic decorations.

Nope, I could not do it. :sad2:

We wouldn't do it, but that's us. We stay two weeks at a minimum with three weeks being our average length of stay.

All it would take is one delay and you could miss the show. :scared1:

A couple of times I have taken the first flight down and the last flight back in the same day.... That's what an AP and $100 RT airfare can do to a gal...

But Sammie has some valid points lol

I did last year! I flew in for the Condo meeting after work and flew back after the meeting the next evening.

It was also a mileage run to earn my Elite status on Airtran (which has been more than worth it!)

ME made the quick turnaround easy

Were you planning to stay in a DVC room? Inventory is pretty limited now so be sure to check on availability or plan to stay in a non-DVC room. You will need to allow time to wait in line to get a seat for Candlelight Processional or you will need to try to book a CP package, and those packages are also limited at this point. Just some things to consider. Hope it works out because it sounds like great fun!

Hi all, two years ago my daughter and me drove down for just one day in the parks from nc . We needed a quick fix and went and got it .

We drove from NC also, just for one day at the parks. We did spend the night, but left for home in the morning.

I've flown down for a weekend...get there Friday afternoon and leave Sunday afternoon for Food and Wine. It worked out very well :)

This past September we flew for the weekend to attend MNSSHP, we love, love, love the party and had a great time.

Last year I flew down on a friday morning at 11:00AM checked into ASMo so I could book free dining for this year, went to MNSSHP left the party at midnight, had a ME at 5:00AM was back home at 10:30AM Saturday.

It was a trip I will never forget, I had a blast, so I say it doesn't matter if its one day, a weekend or 3 weeks, go for it!

DD and Dneice are going to be at WDW from December 3rd to the 13th. They have been trying to talk me into coming down on Saturday 11th with the 7am flight and then I could leave on Sunday with the nonstop 9:30p flight or fly home with them on Sunday evening. It's tempting since the flights are fairly decent. The plan is to go to Jellyrolls or the Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. I would also get to visit the magic kingdom and stay at BLT. I just wish I did not have so much other stuff going on. I could normally see myself doing a trip coming in on a morning flight and going home the next night. Susan

This past summer, I flew in on a Saturday and left on a Monday. I had a great time and it definitely made me anxious for my next trip. I say go for it! :thumbsup2

Because of the price of airfare, the shortest trip I have ever justified was 3 nights. BUT, if I were one of you lucky ducks with access to $100 R/T flight or few hours drive away from WDW, I would probably be able to justify a 1 or 2 night stay also....and often! Good Luck!

I flew down for one evening and left the next morning. That was for one of the final nights the Adventurers Club was open.

My very first solo trip was for one day. I had one day left on a park pass, so I flew in late Friday nite, did the parks on Saturday, and came home Sunday. DH flies for business a lot, so my airfare was free (FF miles). This was several years pre-DVC.

Prior to 2001, I'd consider doing a same-day trip. Nowadays, not a chance. Security scans, pat-downs, etc, are not worth the hassle for one day.

We flew in early on a Friday morning and left Sunday afternoon for the Food and Wine Festival and also took in Mickey's Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party. Discount flights from the Midwest are far and few in-between so a one day would be questionable.

My DH and I WOULD do it to see the CP! It's our very favorite thing in the world!
