Ever, Ever After: The TR Formerly Known as Wishing You Were Here- May 2011

Shopping with two sleeping boys, sounds great! You can take your time and explore!

Now I'm hungry for a brownie paw! So many yummy new things to try, I better not eat anything for the next two weeks to make up for it!

I've never heard of a brownie paw;actually I don't think I've ever been in the AK bakery. I will need to remedy that in Nov!

Yum, brownie paws sound delicious! I'll have to remember that for my next trip! I tried the chewy caramel bar when we went in May and that was out of this world, so I'll continue to trust your taste in sweets!

Good job getting both boys to sleep! Now you can relax and just enjoy the parks!

I'm glad to hear you got to try a chewy caramel bar. I'm not sure the brownie paw is as good as that, but it's pretty good.

Thanks! It's such a nice feeling knowing they are both asleep at the same time.

Mmmmm...I just added brownie paws to my list of 'Snacks to try'. Hopefully I will be able to check it off during our August trip! I love learning about new snacks to try! Now-go enjoy that nap time! :cool1:

There's so many good snacks to try! I've got so many ideas of what to try on our October trip. My list of snacks keeps getting longer and longer. :rolleyes1

I'm sitting at work eating my yogurt reading this and wishing very hard that my breakfast will magically turn in to a brownie....no luck :confused3

 Maybe tomorrow morning...after all Disney wishes are supposed to always come true.:wizard:

While the brownie claw thing sounds scrumptious, I'm over here wanting your iced coffee. Oh, what I wouldn't give for someone to deliver me an iced coffee right about now. That's so great that both boys fell asleep! How nice that you got some "me" time.

I'd like some more of that iced coffee right now, too. It was perfect, cold and refreshing and energizing. I'll definitely get some more of that coffee next time. It was really nice to see that the boys had both fallen asleep.

Gee, I never heard of a brownie paw. I'll have to put that on Mark's "snack list" to try this year. Glad Carter was okay riding in the stroller and not wanting to walk and then he, too, fell asleep. LOVE the tigers...they are a favorite of mine (after my giraffe, of course).

And I can't think of anything better to do than shop when the opportunity presents itself.

I had never heard of a brownie paw until I didn't get it last December. I'm glad I gave it a try this time. It's a lot better than the regular brownie at the bakery. Carter is usually a good stroller rider, although really he could have walked if he had wanted to. He's a reliable walker. I love those tigers, too.

I thought shopping would be a perfect way to spend the afternoon with two sleeping kids.

Yay for two sleeping boys! Shopping time should be fun if it lasts. :thumbsup2

I had to laugh about your brownie paw. I've been working on my next day for my TR and was actually up to debating between the brownie paw and something else when I quit writing last night. Looks like I should've gone with my first thought instead. :rotfl: Notes for next time, right? Glad it was yummy!

Oh that Landon stuffing his cute face with Digsite rocks! How did you make sure he got it all out? Did you have to go fishing?

I think my fiance is going to want those Cars placemats for our kids! Or for himself ...

Ahhh, love the dipping stories! I'm a huge fan of dipping anything and everything although grapes in ketchup is one thing I haven't yet tried. Landon and I would get along.

I had to do a Google image search for the Brownie Paw because I didn't know what it was. Wow, that thing would make a great dessert as long as I had about a gallon of Lactaid, haha!

That sounded wonderful....brownie, iced coffee, one sleeping boy and another on his way....and then SHOPPING!!! Can't wait to hear where you went and what you bought!!

Is that bakery the same one that serves big elephant cupcakes? Wher is it exactly?
I can't wait to hear where you shop. I haven't found my famorite shopping place there yet.

Sorry to hear that KS was a no-go. When I was younger, I used to become impatient with parents that let their kids scream in line, but after working in a childcare center, I can understand how hectic and tiring it is for them. So, I know if I were in line, I wouldn't have minded Landon being restless.
That iced coffee sounds delicious. And it's a perfect power drink to get you prepped for shopping!
Can't wait to read how it went/what you bought.

Anytime the word chocolate is used, you have my attention. Those must be very sweet and not the least bit healthy. I will absolutely have to try one.:thumbsup2

Well, maybe Landon will get his nap in and then be more willing to wait in line... or not.:lmao: That stroller looks like it really is working out well for you and it must be pretty comfortable too. I'm glad their nap schedules are coordinating to allow you some time to roam the park and just enjoy the sights.

Wait, did I forget to mention that the chocolate paw print on the top seems to be made of dark chocolate? Dark chocolate is healthy, right?

Landon's moods to tend to depend on how good of a nap he has had, so the longer he naps the better. The stroller ended up working out very well. I think it's pretty comfortable for the boys and it's easy for me to push. I love having the boys on the same nap schedule.

HAHA! sounds like me! This way the DS little hands will not touch everything in the store!

Every time I go shopping with the boys, there's lots of little hands reaching out of the stroller. Any rows with lots of breakables I just skip altogether. :rotfl:

Oh how fabulous that both boys were asleep in the stroller!

I can just picture you trying to eat your brownie paw, drink your iced coffee, and push the double stroller all at once! :rotfl: But it sounds like you are SuperMom, so I'm sure you handled it just fine!

I bought a City Elite stroller to use here in Europe and I love it. That sun shade is the best ever! When we have 2, I'm going to get a double city mini for sure. Your boys look so comfy in there.

I love it when the boys both sleep at the same time. It's such a nice break in the middle of the day.

It was quite a feat to eat the brownie paw and drink the coffee and push the stroller, but I'll figure out a way when it comes to chocolate and coffee. I probably looked pretty funny, pushing the stroller with a big brownie paw, but that's okay.

The sun shade is awesome. I love how I can completely block the sunlight from shining on the boys. I've never had the City Elite, but I'm guessing it's really nice, if the City Mini is any indication. It does seem like a pretty comfortable ride.

Subscribing--will be back tonight!

I can't imagine your task, so I really want to read it!!!!!!!

Welcome! Thanks for coming over! :)

The AK baby center was where I spent a good chunk of time with my youngest two since it was so hot. Keenan loved running around that room and found some playmates as well.

I will have to try a brownie paw on our next trip. Lucky you to be able to go shopping without little hands touching everything.

It's so easy to let the kids play at the AK baby care center. I'm always kind of surprised when the baby care center is so empty there. It's so much nicer than the MK one, which is always packed.

I liked the brownie paw. Maybe I'll get one again on our next trip. Shopping is so much easier without those little hands reaching out for everything. :rotfl:

I thought it would be a perfect afternoon, shopping and hanging out at AK. Nap time is the best.

Not eating any thing for two weeks beforehand sounds about right. :rotfl: Disney has so many good snacks.

I've never heard of a brownie paw;actually I don't think I've ever been in the AK bakery. I will need to remedy that in Nov!

The brownie paws are good, though I guess they're not as popular as I had thought. I like stopping by the AK bakery, especially for coffee.

If it lasts... I see you know what it's like to have two little boys.

I've found that nothing makes you want a brownie paw as much as almost getting one and choosing something else at the last minute. Of course, after having had the brownie paw, I'd definitely get it again. I think it would go very nicely with a jalapeno pretzel.

Well, it's not easy to get things out of Landon's mouth that he doesn't want to give up. I did have to go fishing around in his mouth to get the rocks out. The trick is to avoid getting my finger between his teeth. Those baby teeth are sharp. And of course, I could tell by the look on his face when the rocks were all gone. He looked sort of annoyed and not at all innocent, which gave it away.

I love those place mats. It's so nice to know that Landon cannot pick up his plate and dump it all in the floor.

I wouldn't recommend the ketchup flavored grape, although I do think it's quite possible that Landon would have enjoyed it. He'll dip anything, too.

I'm sure that brownie paw was crawling in lactose. It's a fun dessert, though, for the lactose tolerant.

That sounded wonderful....brownie, iced coffee, one sleeping boy and another on his way....and then SHOPPING!!! Can't wait to hear where you went and what you bought!!

It was pretty wonderful. Something about coffee and shopping just seems to go well together. And of course the brownie and the sleeping boys just topped it all off. :cloud9:

I can't wait to hear where you shop. I haven't found my famorite shopping place there yet.

Yes, it's the same one with the elephant cupcakes. It's sort of next door to the Tusker House. It's kind of small and easy to miss.

I like a lot of the shopping places at AK. I'll go to just about any of them.

Sorry to hear that KS was a no-go. When I was younger, I used to become impatient with parents that let their kids scream in line, but after working in a childcare center, I can understand how hectic and tiring it is for them. Disney can be a lot to handle for little kids. It's a lot easier to sympathize with a screaming little kid in line, when you're around them more. Come to think of it, there really wasn't very many other kids in line with us, which probably made us stand out even more. I wish you had been in line with us. If Landon had had a stranger to talk to, he might could have made it.

I'd like another iced coffee right now. Maybe tonight I'll go shopping at the Disney Store and get some coffee. That sounds fun.

Another wonderful day. 2 sleeping babies, how precious!:thumbsup2

The day was going really well, I thought. I wasn't sure going into it how much fun we'd have, but it turned out great. I love it when the babies are both asleep.

I am hoping that your next installment that includes "shopping" also includes trading!

Wouldn't be "shopping" if it didn't! :rotfl:

I hope you'll forgive me for reading the update only. Been a long trip and I'm far too far behind to read it all. But I must say, I do love adore the bats and the entire Maharaja Trail!! So much to see!

Glad those kiddos of yours finally crashed giving you some much needed mommy time! Time to get your shop on, girl!!

Mmmm, iced coffee- nothing better on a hot day!:thumbsup2

I always forget that bakery in AK exists! I have to find it on my next trip! Those jalapeno pretzels too, I know they are there, but I don't know where to find them!

Walking through the jungle trek was a great idea to get Carter to sleep, glad it worked, even though he seemed to fight it a little at first! You can't blame him, no one wants to waste time sleeping at Disney! :rotfl:

You know, I believe you are my new hero. I can't imagine doing DIsney with two toddlers. You rock, lady! And I am so glad your boys gave you some you time.

I understand reading only the update. It's hard to catch back up after going on a trip. No worries. :) I think the bats and the tigers are really cool on the Maharajah Trek. I'm glad we had time to do it this trip.

I'm glad they finally fell asleep, too. I'm always happy once everyone is asleep in the afternoon. It usually means the rest of the day will be pretty good.

The iced coffee was good. I'll have a hard time passing by without getting some coffee, now.

The bakery is kind of tucked away where you wouldn't usually notice it if you weren't looking for it. The place with the jalapeno pretzels is in front of Kilimanjaro in plain view, but at first glance, it appears to be a fruit stand. Don't let all the fruit fool you.

I'm glad the jungle trek lulled Carter to sleep. For a minute there I thought it was going to be too exciting for him. I suppose bats and tigers are even cooler when you're two. I'm sure he was just too excited to sleep.

You know, I believe you are my new hero. I can't imagine doing DIsney with two toddlers. You rock, lady! And I am so glad your boys gave you some you time.

Thanks! It was actually pretty fun to get a chance to take the boys to Disney by myself. Cool experience overall. And I was happy to see them both asleep. I thought I was going to get to spend the whole afternoon shopping and wandering around.

Wait, did I forget to mention that the chocolate paw print on the top seems to be made of dark chocolate? Dark chocolate is healthy, right?
That's a good point, but I eat healthy at home so on vacation there is no need to justify junk food binges.:lmao:

I woke up disoriented. Where in the world was I? Still strapped into that dreadful stroller, but where? It slowly came back to me.

I was at that animal place with the Girl with the Dimples and my Sidekick. I looked around for the Girl with the Dimples. There she was, handing over one Vinylthingy.

VinylBBaby.png

The Girl with the Dimples got a slightly different Vinylthingy back.

VinylPumpkin.png

Colossal waste of time, if you ask me. Those Vinylthingys all taste the same, no matter what they look like.

I was bored and...wait a minute. This was a store! The Girl with the Dimples was making me go shopping.

DSCI0185.JPG

I complained as loudly as I could. The Girl with the Dimples leaned in to look at me.

"Landon! What are you doing up? You should go back to sleep. I've only been shopping for five minutes and I'm sure you needed more of a nap."

Yeah, right. I grinned at her, to show that I wasn't the least bit tired and had no intentions of napping again ever.

She sighed and tried to continue shopping, but I wouldn't allow it. I hate shopping, especially when I'm strapped in this infernal stroller and unable to get my hands on anything fun.

The Girl with the Dimples finally got the message that shopping was not on my agenda and wheeled us outside. Ah, fresh air. I love being outside. And going fast.

The Girl with the Dimples tried to slow down and make me look at some sort of bird, but I wouldn't give in. If I was going to ride in my stroller, we'd be going fast and constantly moving.

I got to go on a big tour of the park, going all the way around twice. I politely, but loudly objected every time the Girl with the Dimples tried to go into a store or slowed down.

One road was particularly crowded and the Girl with the Dimples did a pitiful job of pushing our way through the crowds.

DSCI0186.JPG

I told her to throw a few elbows and get us going faster. She misunderstood me.

"Landon, do you see all these people in my way? I can't go any faster than this. I wish I could, but we're kind of stuck."

Well, of course, I saw all the people. I just saw no reason why she couldn't run them all over. After all, this fancy schmancy stroller should be good for something.

"Patience, Landon."

I love it when she calls me Landon. I've deduced that Landon is a honorific title for a king of the universe. So far, I'm the only Landon I know of and I intend on keeping it that way.

At last, we escaped the crowds and continued on our way. I could sense the Girl with the Dimples becoming frustrated, though I had no idea why. After all, she was lucky enough to have walked around the park several times. I'd have loved to be out walking.

The Girl with the Dimples muttered something that I almost missed.

"Maybe you're hungry. Let's look for ice cream."

Yum! I love ice cream! And cake and cookies. I don't get to eat them very often, but when I do, there's nothing better. I can usually get the Dark Haired Guy to give me some treats, but I hadn't seen him around for a few days. I was sure he'd turn up eventually, though.

The Girl with the Dimples stopped at a stand and got an ice cream sandwich. I've had those before and they are good, with nice white ice cream between two chocolate cookies.

She pulled the stroller over to a bench and sat down, looking tired. Maybe she should ride for a bit and let me push. I'd go super fast and knock down anyone who got in my way.

She opened the ice cream sandwich and held it out for me to have a bite. I took a big bite and...yuck! It was full of poisonous little black specks. No way I was eating that stuff. Was she trying to kill me?

"Landon, it's just pieces of Oreo cookies. It's good. See?"

She took a big bite. "Mmm. It's so good."

Proves nothing. She drinks Diet Coke. I've tried that stuff a few times, when the Girl with the Dimples wasn't looking. It's disgusting. If you like that stuff, you'll eat anything.

"Landon, don't you think you're maybe being a bit unreasonable?"

Unreasonable? No, on the contrary, I thought I was being extremely reasonable. I was riding very nicely in my hated stroller, as long as we kept the speed up, when I would have preferred to crawl about the place and explore on my own. I would have loved to eat ice cream, provided the Girl with the Dimples could find some without poison.

She peeled off the cookie pieces of the ice cream sandwich and offered them to me. I put it into my mouth carefully...yep, no poison here. It was good. I ate all the cookie parts, leaving a big bunch of poisoned ice cream behind.

Once I finished my snack and drank from my sippy cup, the Girl with the Dimples tried to duck inside a store again. Had I not made my position on shopping very clear?

As soon as we were back outside, the Girl with the Dimples drove me straight to the big empty playroom. Hurray!

I got out of my abhorrent stroller, helpfully contorting my body as the Girl with the Dimples fumbled around with the buckle. Really, after all the times I've ridden in here, you'd think she'd be more adept at getting me out.

DSCI0187.JPG

I crawled off to play in the room. There was no one to play with. Where was my Sidekick? Oh, sleeping in the detestable stroller. Well, I could put a fast end to that.

The Girl with the Dimples intercepted me. "Landon, your brother is sleeping. In fact, you probably should be sleeping, too. You napped for less than an hour. At home, you sleep for two to three hours everyday."

I did? Really? I made a mental note to cut down on afternoon naps. Just think of all the fun I could have with an extra two to three hours a day.

My head was killing me. What's a guy got to do to get some Baby Tylenol around here?

I decided to have some fun with the Girl with the Dimples. I banged my head against the wall, to see her reaction. It makes a cool, loud noise and it always upsets the Girl with the Dimples. If my Sidekick had been awake, he'd have laughed really hard, which makes it even more fun.

"Landon! Don't do that, baby. You might need your head someday."

I laughed. Did she really think I was dumb enough to hit my head hard enough to hurt it? I mean, sure there was that one time when the table was harder than I expected, but that could have happened to anyone.

Some girls came in and sat in front of the movie with the dancing mouse taking off her clothes. Odd movie choice, for a place with babies in it. Luckily, there were no babies present.

The two girls opened up a package of animal crackers. Well, sure, I'd love to eat some animal crackers with them.

I had just stretched out my hand to take my first handful when I noticed the Girl with the Dimples frantically trying to get my attention. She had a package of graham crackers out and clearly wanted me to eat with her.

I felt a little smug. All the girls wanted to eat with me. And who could blame them?

I felt sorry for the Girl with the Dimples, sitting all by herself, so I went over to eat with her, much to the heart break of the other girls. Sorry, ladies!

DSCI0188.JPG

After I finished my snack, I crawled back to the movie stand and in a grand display of strength, opened the cabinet doors, despite the childproof devices. I glanced back at the Girl with the Dimples, to make sure she was impressed with my awesome muscles. She was.

Wait til she saw this! I climbed inside the cabinet and tried to pull the door shut. Oh no! It was too dark!

The Girl with the Dimples came to my rescue. What a fun game! I was ready to play it forty more times, but just then, my Sidekick woke up and the Girl with the Dimples made us leave, just when it was getting fun. Story of my life.
