Ever, Ever After: The TR Formerly Known as Wishing You Were Here- May 2011

I decided our first objective would be to obtain a Fastpass for Kilimanjaro Safari. I strolled toward Africa, enjoying the beautiful morning.

DSCI0126.JPG

I got my first glimpse of Expedition Everest, and my heart started beating faster, even though I knew that I had no chance of riding it this time.

DSCI0127.JPG

I made it to Harambe with only minimal complaints from Landon about having to ride in his stroller again.

DSCI0128.JPG

As soon as I entered Harambe, it seemed that the number of people tripled. I guess going straight for the Safari is not a very original idea.

DSCI0129.JPG

I decided we would not be riding now and grabbed a Fastpass for later. I paused to appreciate the fact that all three of us could ride on one Fastpass. What a value.

I considered walking through the Pangani Trail, but decided to save that for later in the day, too. I thought perhaps the crowds of people in Africa might mean Dinoland would be uncrowded.

We left Africa, passing by the Sausage Tree.

DSCI0130.JPG

I turned left, toward Asia. Along the path, there were many characters out meeting and greeting. I briefly considered stopping, but decided against it. It was too hard to tell how long the wait was.

Landon's complaints were getting louder and louder. It seemed too early in the day for that much grumpiness.

I saw an empty bench and pulled over and gave the boys a package of Lorna Doone shortbread cookies. Carter and Landon were both pleased with their snack.

DSCI0131.JPG

As I watched them eating, I became a little worried about Landon. I couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was. I just felt that there was something a bit off with him.

Maybe it was a certain look in his eyes or the pallor of his skin. He looked like he just didn't feel good.

He hadn't been sick before we left, so I was confident in ruling out an ear infection. I felt his head and he did feel hot, but it was hot outside and he was sweating, so I ruled out fever.

I stuck my finger in his mouth to see if his molars were coming in. He bit me and laughed about it. And I hadn't felt any molars.

His nose wasn't runny. But I did remember having to wipe his nose earlier that morning. Hard to say.

I went back to his eyes. Was one a little pink around the edges? Maybe he was in the early stages of pink eye.

I dreaded the thought of dragging the boys to the Centra Care with pink eye. While I had the number for Centra Care programed in my phone, I would rather not have to use it.

On the other hand, maybe his eye was just fine and didn't look pink at all and I was just being a paranoid mother. Hmmm.

I wished Jeremy was there to give me a second opinion.

DSCI0132.JPG

The boys finished their snack and we were ready to start off for Dinoland again. I mentally put Landon on Sick Watch and continued on our way.

We walked past the Flame Tree Barbecue, which wasn't open yet, but already smelled fantastic. If I hadn't been planning on Picnic in the Park for lunch, I'd have been tempted to come back later.

At last, we made it to Dinoland.

Oh dear, I sure hope you don't have to get your little one looked at! That would be 2/2!

I KNEW you were headed to the Boneyard- I KNEW IT!! Where else would 2 little boys have such a fun time?

Oh no! I hope poor, little Landon isn't sick! That is such a dreadful feeling when you think something is going on with your child but you're just not sure what. And especially on or around a vacation! That happened to me with Reid on his very 1st vacation. We took him at 15 months to the beach. And on the first morning he woke up with low grade fever & was cranky the whole trip. But, thankfully, he wasn't sick, just cutting his first set of molars. Can't wait for another update! Hope it turns out that Landon was fine & maybe just feeling a little down at that moment!

Poor Landon. I hope he's not getting sick. That wouldn't be a fun way to spend a weekend at Disney World.

Mm, I hope Landon wasn't getting sick. I can't imagine how stressful that would be, to have to take care of 2 children in WDW, while one isn't feeling well. It reminded me of how how you guys got sick going home in December. Wasn't Landon the one who avoided catching the bug? I can't remember. I just hope you didn't catch a repeat of that situation earlier on.
I did not know there was a sausage tree until I saw your photo. That looks so odd! I will have to remember to keep an out for it the next time I'm there.
I hope Dinoland wasn't packed and you three enjoyed yourselves there. :thumbsup2

I hope Landon didn't get sick, I imagine that would be a very difficult wrench thrown in the plans!!

I'm going to echo everyone else and say "Please don't get sick, Landon!" I hope it all turned out alright!

It was very smart of you to have the urgent care number in your phone, I really should do something like that for when we travel!

Dinoland seems like a great place to start your day!

I know! I would have thought that given everything that happened in December, we'd have some sort of Centra Care immunity. :rotfl:

Of course, we were headed to the Boneyard.:thumbsup2 I think my boys would like to live there.

Uh oh, I sure hope you don't have a sick kiddo on your hands!

I was hoping so, too. I hate it when they are sick.

I hate it when I suspect that something is wrong with on of my boys and I don't know what. I think it's even worse being on my own, because there was no one else to talk to about it. It's always bad when kids are sick on vacation, too. I'm glad Reid wasn't sick and was just getting his molars. I wish teething didn't make babies feel so bad.

Poor Landon. I hope he's not getting sick. That wouldn't be a fun way to spend a weekend at Disney World.

I hoped he wasn't getting sick, too. Disney World is so much more fun with healthy toddlers.

Landon was the only one in December who avoided getting sick. I guess he was going to make up for it this trip. I didn't even consider that he might be coming down with another stomach bug. I guess that was too awful to even think about. Luckily, his appetite was as hardy as ever.

I've always found the sausage tree interesting. That one and the upside down tree. It was a long walk over to Dinoland, but it would be worth it, to get out of the crowds for awhile. I don't think most people head to Dinoland first thing.

I hope Landon didn't get sick, I imagine that would be a very difficult wrench thrown in the plans!!

It sure would be a difficult wrench in the plans. I had imagined a lot of different ways we might spend our day, but sitting at Centra Care wasn't one of them.

Loving your trip report so far! Your writing is fantastic!!

Thank you! I'm having a great time writing it. :)

Oh no, not the Centra care again. Hopefully Landon didn't get sick

Oh no. Looking at the picture of the boys, Landon sure looks a little...I dunno the right word...not the happiest.

I really hope your next update doesn't share news of him being sick. >_<

Oh no, poor Landon, I hope he's not sick!

LOL, I love that "sausage" tree in AK! Brandon and I always stop to admire it, it's just so weird!

I always feel really sorry for Landon when he's sick. He always seems so little still. I guess it's because he's the youngest.

I'm going to echo everyone else and say "Please don't get sick, Landon!" I hope it all turned out alright!

I'm sure Landon was trying his best to stay healthy. He hates being sick.

Keeping the urgent care number in my phone was one of the things I learned in December. Before that trip, I always just assumed everything would be fine.

Dinoland is a lot of fun with Carter and Landon. They love it.

Welcome! I'm glad you're here. You're not that late, Day 2 is just starting. :rotfl:

Exactly what I was thinking- not Centra Care again.

Landon does look a little rough in that picture, doesn't he? Poor little guy.

I hope to have the next update up tonight.

I wish my boys would never get sick at Disney. Maybe they need to build up their immune systems.

Wouldn't it be strange to live somewhere with sausage trees growing wild? It's a cool tree.

I spotted a cool white bird hanging out in a tree, just inside Dinoland. I watched him for a minute before continuing to our first destination.

I was hoping that Triceratop Spin would not have a long line and I was pleased to see that it didn't. In fact, there were empty Triceratops spinning up there.

I parked the stroller and got Carter out first, since he could be counted on not to run off while I got Landon out. I carried Landon to the Triceratop Spin queue and let Carter walk.

We got on at the very next rotation and it was an adventure getting into our triceratops. I knew that the littlest person was supposed to be on the inside.

Landon was the littlest, but he was going to be a lap passenger, so maybe that meant Carter should go on the inside. I decided to give that a try.

I helped Carter step into the dinosaur and get seated and then I sat down next to him with Landon in my lap. I fastened our buckle and we were ready to go.

It was a fun ride. Landon sat back with a big grin on his face and watched the world go by. Carter had a great time making the triceratops go up and down.

Of course, I had made sure we sat in the back row.

It was so much fun that I considered asking if we could ride again, but it looked like there was a bigger line now, so we reluctantly left the triceratops.

We went to grab the stroller. I made Landon get back in the stroller, but I let Carter stay out and walk. We weren't going far and it seemed a lot easier for him to walk.

Landon noticed that he was the only one riding and wanted to know why I'd even had him if I just wanted to be mean to him all the time.

I told him we weren't going far, but he insisted it was baby cruelty.

We arrived at the Boneyard and I parked the stroller there. Before I got Landon out, I knelt down to talk to Carter.

"Carter, we're going to go play now. It's going to be a lot of fun and I hope that we can stay here and play for a long time. In order to stay and play, I'll need you to be very helpful and stay right with me. Sound good?"

Carter looked very serious and agreed to stay close and try his best to help out in any way possible.

"Okay, Landon. We're going to go play now."

I got him out and he said it was about time. The three of us entered the Boneyard.

We spent some time on the baby slide until a bigger kid came along and kept getting in Carter's face. I think the kid had good intentions and wasn't trying to be mean, but I could tell Carter was uncomfortable.

He kept backing up, trying to get away from the kid. I picked up Landon and lead Carter far away from the big kid.

Carter and Landon climbed up to the top of some stairs, by a little door.

DSCI0135.JPG

Sometimes, a dinosaur would roar when they tried to open the door.

DSCI0136.JPG

Landon decided to practice his stairs skills.

DSCI0137.JPG

"Feet first, Landon."

Landon did go feet first.

"Good job. You made it all the way to the bottom."

DSCI0138.JPG

Of course, once he'd made it down the stairs, the only thing to do was go back up.

DSCI0139.JPG

The boys hung out at the top again. It didn't look like that much fun, but they seemed to be happy.

DSCI0140.JPG

After a long time of standing around at the top and following Landon up and down, I got bored. There was a great big Boneyard out there and we were going to see more of it.

First of all, nice job remembering that phone call...the Mickey heads everywhere! :lmao: Although, Disneyworld really is out of this world for people who aren't really Disney people!

I hope Landon doesn't end up sick.

And, yes, when you have a preschoolers the Boneyard rules! Max loved it and I think he would have stayed there all day if we had let him. :lmao:

Oh no, I didn't even think about you not being able to ride Everest. That makes me sad for you:rotfl:

it's crazy hoeany people head for the safari first thing. We went straight there while chris grabbed a fp and the line jumped 20 minutes in that time!

I don't envy you with the stair climbing. That's one stage that both bored me and made me nervous!

Hope Landon is alright!
