I decided our first objective would be to obtain a Fastpass for Kilimanjaro Safari. I strolled toward Africa, enjoying the beautiful morning.
I got my first glimpse of Expedition Everest, and my heart started beating faster, even though I knew that I had no chance of riding it this time.
I made it to Harambe with only minimal complaints from Landon about having to ride in his stroller again.
As soon as I entered Harambe, it seemed that the number of people tripled. I guess going straight for the Safari is not a very original idea.
I decided we would not be riding now and grabbed a Fastpass for later. I paused to appreciate the fact that all three of us could ride on one Fastpass. What a value.
I considered walking through the Pangani Trail, but decided to save that for later in the day, too. I thought perhaps the crowds of people in Africa might mean Dinoland would be uncrowded.
We left Africa, passing by the Sausage Tree.
I turned left, toward Asia. Along the path, there were many characters out meeting and greeting. I briefly considered stopping, but decided against it. It was too hard to tell how long the wait was.
Landon's complaints were getting louder and louder. It seemed too early in the day for that much grumpiness.
I saw an empty bench and pulled over and gave the boys a package of Lorna Doone shortbread cookies. Carter and Landon were both pleased with their snack.
As I watched them eating, I became a little worried about Landon. I couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was. I just felt that there was something a bit off with him.
Maybe it was a certain look in his eyes or the pallor of his skin. He looked like he just didn't feel good.
He hadn't been sick before we left, so I was confident in ruling out an ear infection. I felt his head and he did feel hot, but it was hot outside and he was sweating, so I ruled out fever.
I stuck my finger in his mouth to see if his molars were coming in. He bit me and laughed about it. And I hadn't felt any molars.
His nose wasn't runny. But I did remember having to wipe his nose earlier that morning. Hard to say.
I went back to his eyes. Was one a little pink around the edges? Maybe he was in the early stages of pink eye.
I dreaded the thought of dragging the boys to the Centra Care with pink eye. While I had the number for Centra Care programed in my phone, I would rather not have to use it.
On the other hand, maybe his eye was just fine and didn't look pink at all and I was just being a paranoid mother. Hmmm.
I wished Jeremy was there to give me a second opinion.
The boys finished their snack and we were ready to start off for Dinoland again. I mentally put Landon on Sick Watch and continued on our way.
We walked past the Flame Tree Barbecue, which wasn't open yet, but already smelled fantastic. If I hadn't been planning on Picnic in the Park for lunch, I'd have been tempted to come back later.
At last, we made it to Dinoland.
