Our 10/6/17 Magic cruise has just released GTY rates for Navigator Verandah rooms. It would cost us $128.00 to cancel our current OV rooms to rebook as a GTY, (it's under 90 days away). Has anyone done this before and is it a huge pain to do it?

Thanks

I just did this -- went from an 8A to a 5C and saved over a thousand dollars. HIGHLY worth it for us! I called my travel agent and she canceled and rebooked for us.

Yes, and after the Paid in Full date. So we lost our deposit (on 2 B2B cruises). We went from an oceanview to a verandah, forfeited our deposit(s) and still saved over $1000.00.

Switching to a VGT
2 rooms or 1? The good news is if all four of you are in one room you won't get a navigators verandah you'll get something better. The navigators on the classics only sleep 3. When I've booked VGT's on the Dream and Fantasy I've gotten everything from a 5c to a 4a. It's kind of exciting to see where you'll end up. I've always gotten a higher level then I would have booked had I chosen the room.
If you do it they'll make you a new reservation, transfer the money over minus the penalty, and you'll just pay the difference.

Just 1 room for the 4 of us. Will we lose our PAT, meet and greet tickets, etc?

That's what I was afraid of, I kind of don't even want to call. I don't know if it's worth having to go through all that stuff!
I guess it depends on how much you want the balcony. As far as transferring the money from one reservation to another. It takes a matter of minutes. DCL's Cm's are fast and efficient. I've done it so many times. They've done it so many times. It won't be a issue at all. I've only paid a penalty once. Sometimes I'll have cruise paid off and a GT rate pops up a month earlier and I jump on it or I just change my mind and decide on a different cruise. Transferring money from one reservation to another is about as easy as transferring from your checking to your savings. DCL rocks in this area.

Since they are offering multiple discounts on this cruise I would think it's not very full, and you would still get a good PAT time. Sorry not sure what a meet and greet is. We're not into the characters. I've always gotten 1100-1200 PAT booking GT rates before I was platinum. Now I really don't care about getting there early I get there when I get there.

For 128.00 dollars I would take a take a balcony in a heartbeat. I think most people wouldn't even hesitate even if it meant getting on the ship an hour later. It's been a while since I've had a balcony on a DCL cruise. Prices keep getting higher and I keep downgrading my category.

Good luck whatever you decide.
