We just booked our very first cruise and did it through DVC. They are two cat. 11 rooms for next April. I heard if you book early, the chances of upgrades for this cat. go up. I know its probably just plain luck if we do, but my question is...if you book through DVC, are your rooms completely locked in when you book or are they free to upgrade you if necessary? (I posted this here, as there are more dvc experts on this forum).

We've cruised using both cash and points and never got an upgrade. Hope you will be happy with a cat 11 in case the upgrade doesn't happen. If it does you can that much happier!

Thanks for that link!

We just went on a 4 day cruise on May 2. When we checked in we asked if there were any available rooms to upgrade to for cash. We were referred to a supervisor. They had about 8 different rooms at varying prices to upgrade to. After talking for a while to the supervisor, who had just purchased DVC points, he offered us a cat. 3 for the the price of a cat. 8. The price was 527.00 extra. Well worth it......cat 3 is a deluxe family stateroom with a verandah !!! It was our first cruise and now we are totally spoiled.....what will we do next time? haha
