We need room for 6.

Seems like a more efficient way to use points. Will save almost 100 points this way. 4 adults 2 kids, so no issue there.

We do this all the time, although for our trip this year we're doing a split stay between two BWV studios and a AKL 2-BR. Two studios saves points, but it's nice to spring for the 2-BR from time to time and be in one place.

Also, studios don’t have a kitchen or laundry, so there is a minor cost of inconvenience if you value those amenities.

We got two studios when we went in November with 5 people. But our family prefers to stay together so I have a 2 bedroom booked for December even though it is more points. I liked saving the points last time, but after this trip one of my daughters may not be able to go with us again for awhile so I don't mind splurging on the points.

Dedicated 2BRs will also have 2 real beds in the second BR so 3 total, but 2 studios will only have 2 real beds total if that makes a difference to your party (unless you're staying at OKW).

While I completely understand the point savings, I would probably never consider it. As a family of 5 we prefer to be together and have the living room and full kitchen. Of course we like space. Even if it is just DH and I we usually stay in a 1 bedroom. Standard view at BWV is a nice option we have.

I think it all depends on the traveling party and length of stay. We prefer the 2 bedroom most of the time for the kitchen and laundry. For shorter trips it could work just as well.

Have you traveled much with the other family? If so how did everyone get along? Did you wish that you had some time without the other family in the room? Are the kids similar in age? Would you fix meals in the kitchen? Will the families like to have time at the resort and use the living room for living space? By having a kitchen you have a larger table for dining so that all of you will be able to sit at a table. In a studio you have a table for two.

And most of all can you book more days if you go with cheaper studios?

BTW, studios booked on points have access to the free DVC laundry, it is just not in the room.

I've booked two studios instead of a 1-Bed at VGC because we do not cook a lot at DL. Usually shorter trips. But at WDW, it's really nice to have that big kitchen. You can cook and save a good deal of $$.

I would do it in a heartbeat. We haven't had family travel with us (yet) but I would appreciate the privacy along with the point savings. I don't need to sleep in the same space and feel like we would all grate on each other after a couple of days. I also always look at the family make-up - the 2 bedrooms still don't necessarily provide the right beds for the right combo of people (ie who is sharing a room with who). We booked 2 studios at SSR in Jan. for the extra beds as our DS brought a friend - there were only 4 of us but we wanted 3 beds and a larger villa would have been overkill.

We're usually 6 and I totally agree. We all have different schedules, work/living in another city/state, college, so when we vacation we like to be immersed in it all together. Cooking, pool, parks, hanging out, enough beds for everyone to be comfortable, I love it. But to each his own, the beauty and practicality of DVC!
