Ever been to Waffle House?`

Wow I really thought this thread was a joke---never thought about people not having waffle houses everywhere - been eating at them for 25 years or so! I foror they aren't "everywhere" though they ARE on evey corner here.......

The BEST BEST BEST grits are served there
!

I've always wanted to try one but there aren't any in our area.... but those grits want to make me stay away! :teeth: Just one Yankee's opinion. ;)

We don't have Waffle Houses here either, but ate at them a couple of tims on our drive to Disney World. Good food for the right price.

no Waffle Houses up here, but as soon as I see one on any kind of trip south we have to stop. The food is great for the price. Granted, Ive only had waffles and hash browns, but Ive never had a bad serving of either.

My mouth loves the "Awful" House. My arteries, not so much.

Waffle House....my DH and I ate at one when we took a driving trip from Boston to Texas...we were in Mississippi I think. I have to say that it was awful. The place was swimming in grease, all up the walls, the windows were yellow from nicotine stains, the people working looked like they had not showered in a while, and the food....oh it was awful! I can still remember the grits--cold and lumpy! That was just the one waffle house though, maybe there are better ones elsewhere.

We ate at one in North Carolina on our way back from WDW and it was so yummy! Our waitress was a big ol' southern woman who called us sweetie and honey -- gotta love that. DD was tickled! I can't remember what we ate, but it was delicious.

I used to frequent them quite often when I was in college. Where else can you get a Tbone steak at 3 in the morning? ;)

We always go on the way to Disney when we get into town. Its a tradition we started before we were married on our first trip and now we just have to do it or its not the same. We do have one down here but its not the same so we dont go when here.

Mmmm yum! They're so addicting and if you get the hash browns, go for smothered and covered! Once you eat at a good one, and I"ll stress good one, you are hooked and want more!

Yep, they are good for a cheap breakfast to help you feel better after too many Boat Drinks :teeth:

Ham & Cheese omelet w/hashbrowns (scattered, smothered & covered)...yummo!!!

I love waffle house! Anytime I took a trip to Florida I made sure I could eat there just once.

I really wish I had one by me.

I have been living close to one for 11 years and have always been "afraid" to go. It sits right next to a dumpy Econo-Lodge and it just looks "shady" but maybe it's okay?

You guys are killing me! The Waffle Houses down here are plentiful...like the plague. When we moved down here (to NC) I made DH take me to one (expecting something like an IHOP). Oh...MY...GOD was I wrong! The place was a disgustingly scary filth-hole. According to DH (who is a seasoned Waffle House traveller) it was a standard Waffle House.

When we walk in (at 5pm) we were greeted with several grunts of "Good morning", from behind the counter. It was so smokey I could barely breathe. The walls were greasey, the air was greasey, the windows were yellow. The food was....GREASEY. The waffle was pretty good.

If you haven't tried Waffle House, you simply MUST put it on your to-do list. It's a life changing event.

Oh geez, I can list at least 8 Waffle Houses within 10 miles of my house. :earseek:

I don't ever eat there for lunch or dinner. The only time I go is if it's 2am and I need some grease to help me hold the alcohol I've just consumed. Then it's the covered/smothered/whatever hash browns. Yum!

Bacon Egg and Cheese sandwich with hashbrowns scattered, smothered and covered.
:)

We don't have any Waffle Houses around, but we do have a Waddle House and a Huddle House in town. Are these similar?

Normally, I'm not a big fan of Waffle House. Most of them have seemed dirty & run-down inside. We have one here, though, and I love it. We went last night and 4 of us had deliscious breakfasts for only $23.00. Ours is clean and very friendly. It's open all night so if you get a craving at 2am, you can go as you are and not feel out of place. They have the best waffles. :)

We've never been to a Waffle House--the closest one isn't too far away (about 1/2 hour), but we've just never made it there. But for some reason Waffle House is an inside joke of our family and my 15yo says he's going to have his wedding reception there. :rotfl: Yee Haw! Oh, and the one closest to us looks like a real dive. But whenever we pass one my 15yo talks about that wedding reception! :rotfl2:
