My DH just got back from Lancaster PA today. He had to drive his mom up there to buy a quilt. :confused3

Anyhow, they went to a restaurant called Good & Plenty and he came home RAVING about their meatloaf. LOL Said it was the best he ever had. Has anyone ever had it or possibly have the recipe?

We ate there once and the food was amazing....especially the corn mush......have no idea about the meatloaf recipe......

We have been there and the food was very good. I do not have the recipe but I do remember the meatloaf being delicious!

I highly recommend the Shady Maple Buffet in Lancaster. In a word, yum! And their gourmet bread is to die for.

We love that place! Its a must stop at least once everytime we are in Lancaster!!

I pass that place ALL the time... never went in. I guess we'll have to give it a shot. :thumbsup2

We live right down the road from Lancaster, about 30 mins. Been to Good & Plenty plenty of times! The meatload is very good, but I don't have the recipie. Next time we go I can see if I can get it for you though!

I'm taking my DH to Shady Maple for the first time next week. We both enjoy Miller's - their hot bacon dressing is to die for! :thumbsup2

Try a google search.

Or write to them or email them (if they have email) asking for the recipe. Some restaurants will share.

We loved the good home cookin' in Amish country. Very easy to come home 10 lbs heavier. They use all the good fattening ingredients. :goodvibes

I've googled a few versions of "Good & Plenty restaurant meatloaf recipes", leaving out different words each try. Came up with their site with only 2 listed, but it says you can request. I found other recipes by searching also.

Thanks!! I did send them an email asking for the recipe, so I hope they reply. I do have an Amish cookbook at home, but unfortunately they did not have any kind of meatloaf recipe in it. They did however have some mighty tasty-sounding recipes in it that I might have to try.

His mom did bring home a pkg of peanut butter cookies and red velvet whoopie pies that were quite good. I told hubby that I wanted to go up there (I haven't been in a very long time!!!) He said we might be able to take a detour on our way home from a Tennessee vacation in August. YAY!!!

I have family in the Lancaster area and we visit quite frequently and we always make the trip to Good and Plenty. As for the name of the restaurant it says it all the food is good(GREAT!!) and you get plenty. It is family style seating and as they seat you you are introduced to others who are sitting at the table they'll ask where you are from and will announce before you sit which is fun. Then when you are seated the fun begins first the breads, jams and butters when you are finished with that the main course comes and it's all passed around and it keeps coming until you can't take another bite.
Now just when you think it's over it's not, the desserts come out and it's all for you pies, especially shoefly pie and cakes and again all you want by the time you are finished you are in a food coma but it's all worth it and you'll always want to go back.

It's funny that I've never eaten there! We go to Shady Maple :goodvibes

If you haven't found it yet, let me know. I'll ask around. :goodvibes

Are you sure it was meatloaf and not hamloaf?

Good and Plenty is yummy (never had the meatloaf though) but my hands down favorite in Lancaster is Dieners!! Oh so good!!!

I've only been there once - like 25 yrs ago! It was my first experience with Shoefly Pie (I think that's how it's spelled). YUMMY!

What exactly is Shoefly Pie? Is it kinda like Pecan Pie (like that thick, syrupy stuff) Cause I don't like Pecan Pie. But I'd like to try Shoefly Pie...

I have been to Good and Plenty once. I agree with others I will stick to Shady Maple. My parents actually go to the Lancaster area just to go to Shady Maple. They will in fact be there next week for my dad's birthday - he gets a free meal.
