Downtown Disney, and not the parks?

:scratchin I'm thinking of doing that for our trip in 2007. We'll be at SSR for 3 nights after 3 days on a cruise, before we fly out. Who wants to brave the parks? :rotfl: Hopefully DS won't notice.

Our last trip was a resort and DTD only trip. We spent this trip at VWL to relax and headed over to DTD in the evening. We had plenty to do, including 1 visit to Disney Quest and a few evenings at Pleasure Island, including the Comedy Warehouse and the Adventurers Club. We were not at a loss for things to do with all that DTD has to offer coupled with resort activities and exploration of Fort Wilderness. But each resort will have its own fun.

I would definitley recommend a DTD/resort-only trip if you are in the mood for more relaxation and a slower pace. There is plenty to do at each resort. Saving the price of park entrance was nice, too. Practically a free trip. Other things to do in DTD include: running through the fountain, visiting the birds outside Rainforest Cafe, Magic Masters shop, World of Disney, great restaurants, House of Blues store, HOB concerts (sometimes outdoor entertainment), boat rides to resorts, fireworks (however brief) at midnight, Cirque, AMC theatre, people watching, great views, and a lot of walking. If you haven't been to Wolfgang Pucks, they have great food and, if the weather is nice, there is nothing like an outdoor seat in the evening and a view of the lake and SSR.

All that said, we are going back again and looking forward to the parks this time.

We have gone plenty of times just to relax! Sometimes it is really nice not to go to the parks and to just enjoy the resorts and shopping.
Enjoy,
Paula

My wife and I were not planning attend the parks on our upcoming trip in March. (We may sneek in a day) We both are really looking forward to this trip. We will be able to go to DTD much more and visit some of the resorts. We are going to do all of the things we said we would do on previous trips but didn't.

On our last trip all we did was pool hop and DTD. We had a blast, my kids were thrilled with all of the different water slides and the cool stuff I got them at DTD that I normally wouldn't cave in to, and we are all psyched for the parks for our upcoming trip home. :cool1:

Our last trip was in June, 3 days at SSR, no parks, just swimming and DtD. We had a ball! We really got to enjoy SSR and we also pool hopped for the first time! I love vacations like that. No stress, no plans, it was so relaxing.

I was just talking about this under the Community Hall topic. We are comtemplating this ourselves in October when we hope to go to MNSSHP(that would be our only visit to the parks this trip) We also would stay at SSR. I think we will have no problem at all having a fanatastic time. Just to be at Disney and knowing that you will be coming back for years to come allows us to slow down to smell the roses. We too hope to visit other resorts to dream about future visits and pool hop possibly and just take it all in. Go to the Boardwalk and take in the atmosphere. It sounds like the CH at SSR is great and has activities for the kids. We also for sure are going to rent bikes and explore. Miniature golf possibly. Whew...we better just go to the parks-it will be cheaper :rotfl: I think you'd be really happy either way you went-hey, you're at Disney and then on the Magic! (or Wonder) It's all good!!! :cheer2:

Goodness, my DH would love this. His absolute favorite thing from our trip last month was Disney Quest. I think if he could go to DQ a couple times and swim in a fun pool and ride a bike, he would be totally happy. He is also a huge Mission Space fan, and would maybe miss doing that, but other than that, I am guessing neither of my boys would mind a trip like that at all! There is SO much to do without going to the parks. It's amazing.

We stayed at Fort Wilderness and I would recommend the nightly campfire there, too. Followed by a Disney movie on an outdoor screen. Fun and Free! Unless you count the cost of S'mores. :)

Yep...we did this once. We were in the Orlando area visiting relatives and did 2 nights at OKW. We never went to the parks. We visited DTD a couple times, swimming, shopping, dining at different resorts, playing disney mini golf.......had a terrific couple of days.
