I went to a scrapbook expo a couple years ago and wasn't too impressed, but CK is coming here in November and thought I would try it>

Any opinions????
Thanks!:flower3:

Yup! Two. Hartford in 2008 and Manchester this year. It "cost " me both times but oh my did I come back with lots of goodies and ENERGIZED to create.

My favorite classes were by Boxer, Button Farm and Lickety Split. You can read class reviews by searching on the two peas message board, and I think there are a couple threads on this board as well. CK's own classes and Piggy Tales are some of the "less well" liked.

I also did the all day album class in Hartford. We received TONS of product so although it was expensive, I felt like I had gotten my money's worth. However, the Album was "all about me" not a subject I'll ever use.

The crops at night I felt were - meh. I went to the Saturday night crop in hartford and sat with some girls I'd met in class. That was fun, and I finished quite a few class projects but the stupid games and useless giveaways were not and I wouldn't do it again.

Advice:

Don't schedule back to back classes.

READ the class descriptions.

Leave more time and money for shopping than you think you'll need.

Thanks Linda!
I looked over their classes, not sure if any of them interest me, besides will probably have DD with me. Looking forward to the shopping though!

I have been to both CKC and Scrapbook Expos here in FL. The CKC had good classes and the 1st year had lots of vendors- many vendors chose not to return the next year. If you decide to go to classes I would look carefully for classes with products of techniques you want and go to the CKC messageboards and see what opinions are out there on classes.

Here in FL our Scrapbook Expo (Orlando) is much bigger than the CKC's were- tons of vendors with lots of products and many make and takes.

I enjoy going to both of them and find I really enjoy classes- it is a nice break from the shopping and many new things on the floor but I have become more particular about the classes I will take.

I went to my first CKC a couple weeks ago here in Charlotte NC and I LOVED it!!! I had such a blast, and saw so many amazing stickers and layouts and everything :-D Make sure you go to one of the crops-they give you a pretty nice goody bag with freebies, and have tons of giveaways :) And make sure you don't miss the Vendor Faire- it cost an extra $10, but if you preregister, you can get coupons for $3 off, I think. My mom actually signed up to help at one of the classes, though, and got a FREE Vendor Faire pass! So yes, I would definitely reccomend the CKC Convention! :thumbsup2

I went to my first in Philly this year. LOVED it!

Also recommmend the boxer class that is more information and handouts than an actually project class. I dont SB much and I learned so much. I ended up buying a ton of stuff even though they handed a ton of stuff since know I know what to do with it.

Thanks everyone, looking forward to the CKC coming in Nov...I already got a $3.00 off coupon at my local scrap store, met the owner, really nice and she will be at CKC too.
probably won't do any of the classes though, DD will be with me and after looking them over again, nothing really interested me.....but will be ready to SHOP!!:cool1:

I think I might do CK some time next year. We don't have anything close to us, so it will be a trip for me anyway. It's definitely something that's on my bucket list to do.

Yes I went to the one in Provo a few years back. We had a great time! Got so much "free" product I needed to buy a small suitcase to bring the stuff back!!!:cool1:
