I just got off the phone with a CM trying to book for Sept 2008. No codes attached to my name, no AAA available, but he did have one other option he could use...but I had to tell him what happens at WDW in September? Not Food and Wine, not Night of Joy, not Halloween party, not any race. He said it has been happening for the last 5 years or so and there is talk of not doing it any more. What in the world could he be talking about??? Of course, he couldn't tell me! Any ideas?

I think he's talking about free dining. I know that has been offered in September 2005, 2006, 2007, and now 2008 (not sure if it started in 2004 or not :confused3). If you want the free dining promo, you have to tell the CM you want that....they won't automatically give it to you :sad2:. Same thing as if you booked online.....you have to click on the free dining link in order to get free dining.....just booking from the regular reservations page will not give you the special :scared:.

Thanks for the quick response! I bet you are right and that is what he is talking about. I had seen that deal on the internet, it is just not the one I wanted ;) .

There's talk of not doing it anymore?? I so hope thats not the case!!

well it was done because the hurricanes in Sept - to kept guest coming in Sept regardless.

It has been about 5 years since Orlando got a hurricane.

Also, because school is just starting back up so park attendance is usually slower.

I think they don't want any of us to become dependent on a promo and thus end up feeling it's an entitlement and get angry when it's gone. Remember the great "stay 7 nights for the cost of 4?". That was even a more fantastic deal but it was only offered one year. I'm sure they can think up other promos and deals to get guests to book the resorts in Sept. That, and the costs of food skyrocketing make me think that the DDP pricing may increase and that cost-wise WDW wouldn't be willing to offer it "free" anymore and possibly lose money. I think we'll know more if it's offered this year in advance to UK guests or as a bounceback promo. If it isn't then this might be the last year of FD. Still, every year there are rumors that it won't be offered and then it is....so it's anyone's guess. ---Kathy
