Evening Show – Changing between early and late

I understand that it’s important that if you don’t plan to show-up for dinner at your appointed restaurant and scheduled seating time, you should notify your server in advance. However, do you also have to notify someone if you plan to attend the early Evening Show if your normal schedule has you attending the late Evening Show? For example, we’ve been assigned the late dinner/early show schedule. On our Palo night, however, we’d like to have dinner earlier and attend the late Evening Show. Is it OK to attend the late show one night if you’re normally scheduled to attend the early show (late dinner)? I’m just not sure how strictly DCL "controlls" the admission to the Evening Show? I’d appreciate any advice.

I didn't realize you were suppose to tell your servers if you are not attending dinner! Oh no! We did this last year on our 7 day one night. There was a movie we wanted to see and so we went to Topsiders for dinner one night instead of going to our dining room. We didn't tell anyone, I didn't realize that I was suppose to tell them.

What do you do? Call a number and tell them you have decided not to go to dinner that night?

I think it's just a courtesy to your servers to tell them in advance if you know you won't be having dinner in your assigned dining room. You should still tip them the full amount, even though you skipped a night.

As for telling someone about switching shows..... you can show up for whichever one you like. You don't have a "ticket" for a particular time, so you may go whenever you want. There is no one checking at the door.

It's a courtesy to your table mates as well if you happen to share your table with others. Unless someone knows that you won't show up, the server will usually delay taking orders at your table just so everyone can be served togethers (not only for his own convenience, but also to help the different families feel as one group.)

We plan to do Palo on the first night so we won't have met our servers yet. The other problem is, if we reserve Palo at an earlier time than our regular late seating time, the servers would be tied up with early seating to let them know on our way.

Would this be something the head server could take care of, or as mentioned is there someone to call? Any suggestions? natt

I think the head server would appreciate the notification either by phone to the assigned restuarant or by stopping at the front desk of the restuarant on the way to Palo. Our head server called us on the morning after we were confined to our cabin (illness) and asked if we would be attending dinner that night.
