Evening MK Parade updates?

It's insane to me that they're just moving on without a night time parade. Was always one of my favorite things at MK, and it appears they're just not going to have one anymore. Wish they'd just come out and say that.

I agree. But no one seems to even really care. We just want more extra upsell events, apparently.....

I'm not sold on the fact that they will even bring back/create a new night time parade.

1. They cost more money than not having one
2. No one seems to be clamoring for one. The reaction seems to be more "aw, shucks. When can I purchase my extra $120 magical night time ticket or my extra $69 magical morning ticket?"
3. From their Ivory Wall Street tower, they probably think it creates more demand for the $100 party tickets.
4. It goes with the new theme "you want something? Pay me more"

I agree with all of that. No one really seems to miss it, including me and I thought I would. Perhaps that's because I purchased the MVMCP ticket and saw the Xmas parade, but I have been to MK since the parades were stopped and I don't miss them. In fact, I am finding I am relieved they're gone. The traffic situation in MK was ugly when the parades were coming through. Now, it's quite easy to move around.

I will admit I'm guilty. When loosely planning next year's trip, I thought how I wish there was a parade, and then quickly just moved on. On the pro side, I think the parade really added to the "magic" or experience of the MK. It was the perfect way to end a very long day for us. On the con side, it brought tons of people to MK at night just to see it. And then as you mention, the crowding could get really intense. I still have a limp from a few ECV's and wheelchairs that felt my ankle was too far out in the path......

However, if it were up to me, there would be a nighttime parade. Not a replay of FoF, but a Spectro/MSEP type of one. Oh well. We will see what happens.

Can you name those sources? I understand if you can't but I have multiple sources that say it isn't coming back. So who knows then.

Maybe this is a stupid question. But why would they have to ship it all the way to Cali for a refurb? Seems like a pretty expensive step.

Because Cali is paying for the refurb... WDW doesn't want to pay for it.

I understand it's just we have sources that are on both sides of this so obviously a final decision hasn't been made yet.

It's not set in stone that it's going back. I have sources saying it isn't. I've even heard the parade might be retried for good. Cali is paying for the refurb before it debuts at DL. They want the parade in tip top shape for their park.

And you shouldn't name your sources, no one else does.

To throw more in mix I heard from insider that they were told discussion in place that MSEP will not stay at DL but will ship to another specifically named park NOT WDW. They were told something similar looking in the works for WDW. All laughable. Probably more about throw enough leaks out there for rumors to start and no one will know the truth until it actually happens.

Automated characters might be difficult but I feel like they already have or could easily have automated parade floats.

Have you seen the piano player in springs that rolls around the place while playing? this reminded me of that.

I don't see it going to Paris.

That was a rumor from Len Testa.

no clue, he was singing mostly christmas songs but I can see it being a regular addition to springs as he just needs to sing other things.

I was hopeful that Paint the Night would come to WDW from DL. I guess that is not happening. Like everyone else here, I am disappointed in the direction Disney execs are going. I realize we live in a capitalist society but I hate greed. I hate all of the up charges for everything at WDW and how they continue to increase the price of everything without making the guest experience better. And I'm a die hard Disney fan but seriously...enough is enough. WHile we were visiting earlier in December, we were disappointed that they did not show the new castle projection show at all (I forget the new name....I know it is not "celebrate the magic" any longer). I asked a cast member about this and he said they don't show it during the holiday season. Well they did a few years ago when we visited during the holiday season. Another cut back. No night time parade at WDW? That's ridiculous! They have always had a night time "lit" parade and it was always so magical at night. Please Disney....stop the greed!

I'm still holding out hope for Paint the Night, but you'd think they would've announced that by now. The night parade followed by fireworks was always the cherry on top of the day, and a big part of what set the MK apart from the rest. Really bummed out.
