Our flight is due to get in at 8:30 pm. We plan on using ME to bring our bags to our resort. If for some reason our flight is delayed and we arrive after the 10:00 pm deadline for luggage delivery I assume we would just pick up our luggage ourselves (ie. it wouldn't matter that they were checked with the yellow ME tags)?

Also, I assume there is less ME service that late into the evening (8:30). Will we be waiting ages for our bags to arrive?

I can answer the second part of your question. You will still probably have to wait 3 hours after you check in for your ME tagged bags to arrive to your room. If there is anything you need for your first night, put it in your carry-on bag, don't check it.

You can always request that they hold your ME bags and deliver them the next day.

You've got it right. The ME cut off for luggage transfer service is 10:00 p.m. and that's based on when your plane actually arrives; not when it is supposed to arrive. So if your plane gets in after 10:00 p.m. you will need to go collect them at baggage claim and take them on the bus with you.

I don't think that ME luggage transfer will be any slower at that time of night than at any other time. Expect that it could take up to four hours from when you check in to your resort (not when you get off of the plane) for your bags to get to your room. In your case that could mean as late as 2:00 a.m.

My suggestion for those late arrivals is to take what you need for the night in carry-on bags and have the resort hold the checked bags that will come from DME until the morning. You can have the front desk alert bell services, but I also would be sure to put out the "Do Not Disturb" sign on your room door just in case there's some mix up there. Call in the morning when you get up and your bags should get delivered within 20 minutes or so in most cases.

On our last trip our bags arrived at our resort only about an hour after we did. I guess it was wishful thinking that we wouldn't have to wait all night for them (although I was aware of the "worst case scenario"). I'm thinking we might as well just claim them ourselves. Unfortunately we are changing resorts right away in the morning (we are staying at Poly for the week, but because we are arriving at night we thought it would make more sense to book a value for that first night & not waste the extra $ on a deluxe). I'm not sure how it would work to have the hotel hold them until the morning only to then go to bell services and have them transferred to the Poly. Plus I would feel better knowing that our bags are all there and accounted for (rather than waiting for a surprise in the morning).
