How are the parks on days when there is EMH in the evening? Does that make the park busier during the morning and daytime hours, or just at night?

MK at EVENING EMH tends to be very crowed.
Other parks seem to be quite managable.

MORNING EMH's, even at MK are the BEST times I have found to get things "done" in the parks.

So few people can "drag themselves up early" that (even without EMH) the morning couple of hours in the parks have low attendence.

As to whether the EMH days seriously affect the attendance during "regular hours" is debatable.

"Research" on crowds between parks every day is difficult to track, but I can't see that it matters a lot, because NOBODY can tell you how a fickle given crowd of tourists will decide (on a whim) which park to go to or which to avoid.
If the EMH park starts to "fill up" as the day progresses, I hop to another park or take a break at a resort.

What is certain is that MK will always have a lot of folks heading its way. It is the most popular themepark in the country.

It didn't affect the crowds in the day while we were there, and actually I think that some people left towards the end of the day.
When we did it MK was still full but most of those people didnt have wristbands. We walked right on space mountain and buzzlightyear. We didnt stay very late that night and went on only a couple rides.
I see that your going in May and we went in December, the crowds will surely be larger then.We did it for every park that had it on our trip. Morning is also good, we went to AK. They don't really have that much for morning hours, only the safari and it's tough to be a bug.
However we were able to ride primeval whirl and dinosaur right at 9 when everyone was still getting in the park. And we rode primeval whirl a few times in a row with very little wait.
I hear that EMH evening is busy and some people say not to even go because the crowds are so bad, but I've only had good experiences with it.

Bumping this back up. More opinions?

We had a GREAT experience at MGM during evening EMH. The crowds were the regular June crowd up until they started pushing those without wrist bands to the gates.

We specifically buy the park hopper option so we can move about the parks as we wish. The park starts to get way too busy, we head back to the room and relax/play at the pool. Then head back to another resort for the evening.

It tends to spread out the day and keep everyone in the Disney mood. :rotfl:

I think it also depends on the time of year. I went to the MK EMH on New Year's Day. The park was opened til 3 am! It was not bad at all. I was able to walk on to just about anything I wanted to ride- especially in the last hour and a half to 2 hours left. I was also able to get good photos and interaction with all the characters- no lines at all (except at times for the Mickey and Minnie line).

Our only experience with EMH was in March, when crowds were generally pretty low. My strategy was to visit a non-EMH park during the day, and then head to the evening EMH park around dinner time. It seemed to work for us! We never did the morning EMH.

I love EMH at the MK in the morning. Night is another story. We went to EMH at the MK in the evening in AUg. The group split up after BTMRR. We had no problem on BTMRR but the group that went to SM found it to have a very long line. You never know when there will be a long liine.

if you are going only for the extra evening hours where do you get the wrist--at the gate?

There are several locations throughout the parks where you can get a wristband for the evening EMH. For example, at the MK the locations are:
*Castle Rose Gardens
*Fantasyland-across from the Winnie the Pooh ride
*Liberty Square- In front of the boat dock
*Adventureland- Near Pirates of the Carribean ride
I'm pretty sure that there's also a location in Tomorrowland, and also at the gates (though I'm not sure).

To complete Joannas thought about the wristbands there is a place right as you walk into the park and inside where timekeeper is.
