Evening Extra Magic Hour! (VERY LONG POST)

I really hate change, but I must admit...this is starting to grow on me.

Sorry to be so negative before. I just wish we were going to be on-site on a night that MK has the extra evening hours.

I wonder what this means for Epcot as far as when evening EMH begins? It could start when FW closes (for ex 7PM), but to make sense then it would have to run long enough to add extra time to the later closing attractions, or it could start when
the whole park closes (for ex 9PM), meaning some FW attractions would close for awhile then reopen? It will be complicated it seems.

Hey, I'm all for it and we WILL be there for the testing.
Looking forward to it!

Smiles,
Diane =0)

The only thing I just called Disney and thay SAID TUESDAY IS ANIMAL KINGDOM (EVENING) NOT MGM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NO EVENING FOR MGM AT ALL!!!!
THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP ON THIS!!!!!

I love it, I love it, I love it!!! Sure hope it works well and is around for our August trip. I get sick of fighting with everyone to get them out of bed for EMH in the morning. It will be fun to mix it up!

Which 800#?. I'd like to call and ase if they will give me the complete schedule so I can post it. I can't believe our luck, we are arriving on the 9th.

I read this on allearsnet.com and thought that it is a great idea. Instead of the wrist bands they could make all those that enter show their resort id's as everyone in the family gets one. We would be one tired family. I would wake up and go, spend some time in the parks, go back for a rest or a swim and then head back out at night. That's what we did with e-ride nights and I think it would be wonderful:sunny:

I'm also wondering about Epcot. Will they still show Illuminations at 9:00? It used to be the "kiss goodnight" to close Epcot. But if they don't have it now until later, then the off-site guests wouldn't get to see Illuminations. Of course, it would be ideal IMHO to have Illuminations twice on that night-I love Illuminations. And now the fact that WS is still open after Illuminations (Sunday?) is great-WS after dark is so beautiful. Anyone hear anything about Illuminations?

so why are Shades of Green guests not included? The Hilton and Swan and Dolphin can participate at night but not Shades? Nice way to treat the military guests!

Yes maybe Disney should have given more notice but oh well. We'll make do with the great gift we have been given.

We will be there May 13 - May 21 and truly are not morning people. We will definitely take advantage of the evening hours.

At least Disney is now able to accomodate night owls with the morning people.

Why wrist bands at all?

Just have CMs at the attractions making sure that all guests entering have a Disney/S&D room key valid for that time period.

Of course, then you have people who left their keys with a family member, in the hotel room, have expired keys, and all that other nonsense. However, checking room keys appears to be the most feasible and cost effective option for this.

Stopping to check each person's room key would take much more time than flashing a wristband as you enter the line. I think the lines would backup if they had to check keys.

FYI

I just called WDW and a CM named Jayse confirmed what the OP said regarding the schedule for EMH during the test period in May. I believe someone stated that AK would be Tuesday in the evening and that is not true MGM will have EMH in the evening.

zippehsmom:D

Oh, it's growing on me now:D

I call them twice now and still told tuesday AK (evening)!
I don't know you the believe! I guss the 1-800 # is wrong, got the same thing from 2 CM's!

Can someone post the correct days? Did anyone get a complete list from a CM?

I just finished planning our June trip and will start calling next week for PSs for our July trip. I always make plans based on avoiding the EE park days. This changes things a bit.
Plus, we might take advantage of some of those late nights if they extend into these months.

Thanks!

I agree!!! (& NOT just because we are going during value season either !! )

;)

We are all excited about this news!! We had been hoping for E-ride nights, and this will be even better -- free!!! We can't complain here, just looking forward to getting there.:Pinkbounc

Hi everyone, sorry to hear that this has messed up a lot of your plans. I know that many of you spend extra time making sure that your plans are perfect and it's unfortunate that Disney has done this at such short notice... that's not to say it's not a good thing for on-site guests but it would have been nice to give you all more notice.

We've never stayed on-site due to $$ so Early Entry or now Evening Entry have not applied. However, I think this is a smart move on Disney's part because there are even more reasons to stay on-site now.
