Evening Extra Magic Hour! (VERY LONG POST)

I'd love this. It would be great. I love the parks at night. I hope they extend this into June during our trip.

Has anyone heard anything official about this? I hate to start changing tee times and PS's until I hear something official from WDW.

There's a thread on the Rumors and News board that quotes identical text from a WDW cast web site. I suspect that later in the weekend we'll see a CM or two on this board confirm (or deny) the info, and that by early next week it will get picked-up by other WDW sites.

If this is true, I will not be a happy camper. DH and I have spent hours planning and making arrangements and PS based on the EMH info that was previously available. If we have to start our planning over from scratch, it is going to be a pain in the neck!

PLEASE...JUST BRING BACK THE E-RIDE NIGHTS ALREADY!

OK, presuming this is factual information, how do we think this will affect crowds? Like an above poster, I have planned all my ps around EMH, which I really, really wanted to do (we are early risers). Despite the fact that I'm very upset about this, I'm wondering if I can stick to my original schedule or if the parks will now be overcrowded with people who were planning for it to be an EMH park. I've got until Monday to cancel my on-site reservation without penalty and am considering doing just that. Only one morning at MK and it's not the morning I'm planning to be there!

Wrist Bands do work. They used them for Enights when they had them. There were several stations throughout the park and you hand in your enight ticket and show your multi day pass and they handed you a bright colored wrist band that is put on right wrist.

As you entered the ride you had to show it and then you could proceed, if you didn't have the wristband you were not allowed to ride.

So I think EMH at night would work the same way.

This is going to change everything that I have planned! They should give much more notice than this. If PS's are made 90 days in advance, I think that this should also be announced at least 90 days in advance!

I don't like the idea anyway, but it really stinks if you have everything planned out already, PS's made, etc.

I think this is a great idea! I love it! I think Disney is trying to find a way to do something in comparison to Universal's FOTL access benefit for resort guests. We're not morning people, but we did the early entry to take advantage it. Now we don't have to, if we don't want to get up. I agree with Chuck, the wrist bands do work. If you don't show your wrist band, out you go. I don't see
how this really messes up any plans, though. You can still do your planned meals and then go to the evening park. We'll be there in May for this and I'm really excited about being a guinea pig!! :p :p

Yes, this is true. This is testing, available during May 9 through May 22.
If you have a PS in a theme park on a morning when they would have typically offered Extra Magic Hour, Dining locations at the theme park will honor existing reservations and will operate as if the park was offering Extra Magic Hour.

It definitely messes up our plans!! We have 5 day PH's and were planning on spending one day out of the parks for DH to golf. We chose Wednesday out of the parks because Thursday was the EMH day for MK. We have PS's for MK on Thursday to take advantage of EMH and then a lunch at CP. Now EMH at MK is Friday and the extra evening hours for MK is Wednesday night. So yes, it's screwing up our tee time on Wednesday, our dinner out of the parks at Yachtsman Wednesday night and our CP lunch on Thursday. I supposed I could leave everything where it is, but then we won't get to take advantage of the MK extra hours.

And I suspect that if I begin to switch things around, something will fall through.

Also, I'm wondering if they will say how long the parks will be open in the evening? I don't think it's worth it as much to rearrange everything for an extra hour in the evening. Now an extra two or three hours I could think about!

This does mess up plans due to MK morning EMH changing. Most people want to do MK EMH but have planned for that to be Sunday and Thursday.

I think it is a great idea. I have always loved e-nights (and was willing to pay for it), but even better if it is free and at other parks. I find the parks to be particularly magical in the evenings. I have gotten out of the habit of using EMH - it just isn't worth it to me to rush around in the morning, so this would be great. Since I love to take a breat during the day, this would give more nighttime options.

I loved E-nights, too, and would be willing to pay for that. I don't like this idea nearly as much.

Do we know how much extra time we are getting in the evening? Is it more than one hour?

Beth

I notice that all the people that love the idea are the ones who aren't going to be there for this test! Actually, I think it's great to switch it up a bit, but not in the middle of my holidays. I have 18 PS planned between May 8th and May 22nd! My days were all planned based on the ability to use the EMH in the morning and then hop over to another park. AAAHHH! Why didn't they announce this 90 days or more out so we could plan our trip accordingly. If I'm not going to benefit from the EMH hour do I really want to go to MK on a Sunday AM? Well, I have to because I have a CRT reservation.

So, as far as we know this is definitely going to happen? I may begin working on Itinerary #5, just when I thought I had it all together!

:teeth:  I was noticing that myself!! From what I have seen on other boards, Disney will probably be announcing something official in the next week or so. I am just going to make a double set of PS's and then cancel the ones I don't want. Easier done for me than for you...we will only be there one week while it looks like you will be there for two. Good luck to you with your rearranging!

i too am a morning person. but am very excited about this!! can't wait to show it to our travelling companions for the may trip!

LOL! Just told DH the very same thing.

PS. Hi Jennifer, great idea about booking double PS! I sent you a PM yesterday. It's not urgent, so read it at your convenience.

I bet they'll continue this on thru summer. Now I have to figure out how much this messes up what I've already planned.

I'll be there for it and couldn't be happier.

I had some plans down on paper myself, but I'm not so obsessive about it that a little curve ball like this is going to give me sleepless nights.
