July of last year my family and I were at WDW(go every summer) - and decided to take advantage of the MK evening EMH - Now we are not newbies to crowds and they in general do not bother us - that said IT WAS AWFUL!!!!!

We were over by Space Mtn near the benches by thr TL speedway and from there as far as the eye could see it was wall to wall people - now again crowds don't bother us - but rude crowds - w/folks pushing and such this DOES BOTHER ME!

Any ways we are heading to WDW in 10 days and I am just wondering how the EMH at night recently have been? Excessive crowds?? or crowded but doable?

Any insight greatly appreciated

Generally speaking (and there are always exceptions):

Off-season the EVENING EMH's are LOW-crowds everywhere BUT MK.

MK evenings are always busy (if there's a parade) and/or EMH can be as crowded as the MK afternoons. BUT on several occations there are reports of LOW MK EMH attendance. (Again, "off-season" will offer lower crowds than July, nearly ALWAYS.)

Since you "never know for sure" (and its FREE) its easy to just GO to the evening EMH and scope it out.
If its too busy, just ride one or two attractions, then sit down, relax, people-watch and/or have a snack until later... or just hop right back to your resort or DTD for the evening.

since it is more of a permanent thing - there are less small ones....

that first year when they were doing in May for a trial run....

there were so many fathers who were shouting and I mean shouting - 'but its free' when their children were in tears from being so tired....

that didn't happen last year - thank goodness.

if there are too many people when you arrive just wait. if there are still too many other people after an hour - then go ahead and leave.

remember that disney does not throw out the non-resort folks... so sometimes it takes them awhile to realize that no matter how hard they beg they aren't go to be allowed to ride anything....

that can easily take an hour. People with little ones also need to leave early.

so have some patience....

I have found that the day of EMH is awful, and the first hour isn't much better. But if you have PH tickets, you can show up after that first hour, and still have two hours to go. The crowds really died down for us in those last two hours, especially when the park closes at 10 or 11.

We were at the evening EMH in MK on Sunday, February 12. Frontierland, Adventureland, and Liberty Square were virtually deserted - i.e., there was a 5 minute wait for Big Thunder Mountain and the Haunted Mansion, and not a single person but us to be seen on POC. Fantasyland and Tomorrowland were more active, but certainly not what I would call excessive.

That said - as through much of February, WDW was hosting a cheerleading competition, and I understand the cheerleaders had a private event that night at MGM. If they had been attending EMH in force, it could have been very different. You might want to see if you can figure out if there will be any similar private events to draw crowds away while you are there...
