If you go to your local Babies or Toys R us, they will let you try out car seats in your vehicle before buying. That is the best way to find out if a particular seat will fit in your car. Other resources are the car seat questions board on babycenter.com or the car-seat.org forums.

Would it fit well in a 2000 Dodge Intrepid?

I have this car seat (LOVE IT!!) and drive a Dodge Charger, which took the place of the Intrepids. They are very similar in size, and it fits very well in the back seat. "Pooh-sized" adults may be a little bit of a tight squeeze to sit beside it, if the seat is positioned in the middle, but DS12 has no problem sitting next to DD2 in her seat. HTH!

I have a chevy HHR and it fits in just fine. I belive and HHR is smaller than the charger/intrepid..... you should be okay. We also have a Symphony that goes up too a 100lbs ( rated for 5-100lbs), that carseat is awesome, you can transfer it to any car in seconds. The sure latch system is the best! both carseat can be found at Babies or target.
