A follow up to prior question.

In February we received an email concerning our May Alaskan cruise which said we didn't have to pay it off until 30 days before and there was a chart showing that you could cancel up to 30 days or more without penalty.

On Saturday, we received another email which said we needed to rebook or cancel by March 30, with no Disney imposed cancellation fees.

Which is it ?? Did they change the rules ??

From: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/...le/cancel-booking-within-60-days-of-sail-date

In addition, for sailings that start or end in a non-US port aboard the Disney Magic from May 8, 2022 through May 28, 2022, and aboard the Disney Wonder from April 21, 2022 through May 30, 2022, we have temporarily relaxed the cancellation fee schedule to 29 days prior to sailing.

Cruises 6 Nights or More (Excluding Suites and Concierge Staterooms)

Days Prior to Vacation Commencement DateFee Amount
30 days or moreNo fee
29 – 15 days75% of vacation price per Guest
14 days or less100% of vacation price per Guest

BUT the other change seems to let concierge cancel.

It's whichever has the later no-fee deadline. So in your case with a non-concierge booking on a May cruise, the 30-day deadline is still in effect. For someone booked concierge, the March 30th would allow them to cancel without penalty.

So my agent said I had to cancel by March 30, when in actuality, I have until 30 days before the cruise to do so. We are in a standard room.

We are on the April 26th sailing out of Vancouver, according to our letter, ALL guests have until March 30th to cancel.

Guests booked on the Disney Wonder April 26, 2022 through September 19, 2022 may modify their sail date or cancel their sailing without any Disney-imposed cancellation fees by contacting our reservations team at 1-866-325-6685 or 407-566-7797 by March 30, 2022

Because of the changing Canadian COVID restrictions, I think DCL is giving people a little more time for those cruises out of Vancouver.

Correct, it's available to anyone, but those who benefit from this special March 30th deadline are Concierge bookings (for the whole season) plus your particular cruise. Because YOUR 30-day window would actually close earlier than the March 30th deadline; so you get a few extra days in there to make your decision.

DCL has done this with other new embarkation ports as they restarted with different rules. They've allowed an approx. 2 week period just prior to the start of cruising from that port for "free" cancellations impacted by the new rules. It primarily benefits Concierge (whose deposits are non-refundable) or anyone who might already be in the cancellation period. Everyone else continues to be subject to the Temporary Policy (which is currently 30-days prior to embarkation for Wonder cruises with departures through May 30th).
