EVC and rides and stuff getting panicky again arghh

so i have mad the hard choce , but the right choice to use an ECV i am having hard time accepting this..i can walk short distance , i can stand short times, i am willing to put up with pain in order to get on each ride un assited, its the long walking all day , i cant do.
i want to walk on all rides, i dont want to be a hassle for my family who are fully supportive , but i feel like a big hassle. i dont want any speacil help, so questions

can i park my scooter off to the side of each ride , and take key is it allowed and safe? or..
do i have to waste everyones time looking for the disablity place to park?
at fantasmic can i park my EVC in the spot they tell me to , but go down and sit with my family in the front where we always sit?
how do you go in store just park and go into each one?would that be ok?
i sound like a pain i know .. but i want to be "normal" as i can. for as long as i can

I can understand that. But everyone has a different "normal" whether it is immediately obvious or not, whether it is a significant factor in any situation or not. Yours is whatever you are capable of at the moment. If you need assistance occasionally, then that is your normal. Use whatever assistive technology fits your needs--and be grateful it is there for you. Your family will probably appreciate it too. <G>

Yes, huckster, if you want, you can park your ECV and walk onto all rides. For most of the rides, that is how I do it. One ride that I use the evc is Soaring, because the line is so long and moves slowly.

Just park the evc with the strollers and take your key. CMs may move it to stroller parking if you leave it elsewhere (I know this from experience ). They put it in free-wheeling mode and push it.

I'm not sure about Fantasmic. What I would do is tell them you want to walk down to a regular seat, that you just need a spot to park the evc. That way you won't be taking a disabled spot that someone else can use.

The stores can be hard to get thru, between the small aisles and the customers, so I do park outside.

A word (or two) of warning about Safari and Soarin'.

The queue for Safari is over 1/4 miles long. And it is over 1/4 mile from unload to where you enter the queue.

And same for Soarin'; it is over 1/4 mile each way.

And most theaters have one way traffice,k so you exit from the side opposite where you cokme in.

You are much better off taking the ECV through the queue into the attaction.

Thanks so much for this answer - I had wondered myself. We'll be getting my dad a scooter for this trip, as he simply cannot walk for eight or nine hours during the day. He's already moaning and groaning that he doesn't want to sit all the time, so I reminded him we could probably park the scooter and he could stand in line. I also told him I'm sure DFIL who is coming with would probably trade with him at times .

And, for the Safari, if you use the ECV in the entire line, you will be directed toward a place where you can park within about 20-30 feet of the ride tram. When you are done, the tram will come back to the same station so you can get your ECV again.
If you park the ECV and leave it, be aware that the Safari loads in one area and unloads in a different area, so you may have quite a walk back to where your ECV was left.

I rented an ECV for the first time for our Aug 1-12 vacation. I definitely recommend staying on the ECV for the Safari and Soarin. I preferred parking with the strollers for most other rides, though, as I am able to stand and walk for short amounts of time. For stores, I stayed on the ECV for larger stores. Smaller spaces, I just found a place to park. And, I parked outside for all our meals since I didn't want to deal with the ECV while dining.

Soarin' and the safari are really easy to park at. Just take the ECV into the queue with you and the cm's will tell you where to park. At the safari ride there is a certain place for everyone that has ECV's and wheelchairs to go. They load everyone into the trucks and you leave the ECV right there. They bring the truck back to the same place and you back on the ECV. On Soarin', you take the ECV into the theater and park it at the end of the seats. At any of the rides, the cm's will show you where to park, just ask if your not sure. It's not difficult at all. You can transfer from the ECV to a regular seat at Fantasmic if you want to. Sometimes they ask you if you can transfer. Just have fun and don't worry about it.

I agree with the others about the rides but I cation you about the stores. First they are very crowded and hard to drive thru so park outside. 2 years ago I had a terrible thing happen to me we were in the store in Toontown and my jacket caught on the handle anfd the Ecv lurched forward and ran over a little girl.I felt terrible and offered to buy her a Mickey doll etc. Her dad was great and luckily she wasn't hurt just scared. Now I always park outside the stores!

My dad will be using an ECV for our October trip. He has neurapathy and paralysis of his left foot, but has function of his leg so can walk short distances, but I think all of the queues throughout the day will add up and cause a lot of swelling. How does the ECV work for Test Track, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Toy Story Mania, Rockin Roller Coaster...can he take it in those lines and/or is there an alternate entrance for him? If an alternate entrance, do we go with him (party of 6) or do we split up and meet him at the loading area? I know some of the lines have stairs, so how does that work? Thank you!

If a line has stairs in it they will have an alternate route for those who can't do them whether it is a wheelchair, ECV, or just can't climb them.

Most rides the person in the ECV can just stay on their ECV till they get to the ride vehicle. If the line is not able to accommodate the ECV, they will have wheelchairs there that they can transfer into and then get in line.
