Now really, what was going on tonight with the voting? I know its all political and neighbourly but in what way did Finland (aka Kiss 2) deserve to win? Did I miss some golden quality? Somebody enlighten me please, not saying we deserved to win but Finland?.... Explain yourselves Europe :guilty:

Biggest load of tripe Ive seen in a long time  As for the voting, well, what can I say :confused3

I think Finland's entry was brilliant!! :rotfl2:
I hope it was tongue in cheek - but it does highlight what a farce the whole competition has become.

I'm still smiling now at Finland's entry :teeth:

Finland was definately the best out of a bad lot :)

At least they were different :)

Finland was excellent! I really enjoyed it. Regarding the voting - that really was a load of tripe. It is so highly politizised that the voting system has to be thought through again. Hees the winner again.

Great video, looks like they have come from Star Trek or Buffy :)

Since when have the countries not had to sing in their native language? Good to be able to listen to it in English, at least then most people can understand the songs.

Claire ;)

Finland dared and deserved and it was obvious from the first moment they appeared on the scene. Good on em i say. Better than our tripe who even sped his own voice up to sound like the school children-Muppets! :thumbsup2

This is why I never watch Eurovision, it is never fair. Where did the UK come ?

I don`t get it..it was different, but not sure if it was different in a good way.
Didn`t watch the whole show, but I know there must have been better song than that.. :confused3

towards the bottom as usual, i think we had 25 points ! poor malta nearly ended up with nil points as well :guilty:

Sorry but I think Lithuania deserved to win. Nice to see not everyone takes it so seriously ;) Although one country (and I can't remember which) deserved full marks for comedy value on their lyrics.

I loved Eurovision last night! :thumbsup2 Definately think Lithuania should have won. (I got this sudden urge to VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE when their song was on for some reason :lmao: )

Other favourite moments included the a capella group with their dancing robot, the girl growing out of the piano in the Russian entry, and the completely deadpan Polish man, 'And 12 points go to... Poland. Just kidding.' :rotfl:

I think it was a great year! :teeth:

I wanted Lithunania to win as well! I thought Finland would do well but I didn't think it would win. I was amazed that Bosnia did so well, I thought their song was really dull!

The best bit for me was Terry Wogan's commentary over the top. :rotfl2: When did he become so cynical?!

yes his commentary was 'amazing' wasn't it....i couldn't have watched the whole thing without him....

as it happens i liked the French entry....at least they still sing in their own language...

and what was that German nonsense - i guess the group must be from West Germany...

i think i also liked the Lithuanian entry but i can't recall who was who....they all run together..

as for Finland, i knew they would win....not because the song was good - it was mediocre at best.....but the costumes set them apart in people's minds......
i guess next year we're going to have an all alien eurovision...

I'd have been disappointed if Finland hadn't won. It proved to me that all the political voting can be overcome. And Terry Wogan's commentary has been the best part for years. He most certainly doesn't take it seriously.

Political voting overcome?
Finland is no proof of that. When countries like the UK, France, Germany, Malta, Spain etc. win, the political voting is overcome (even though each of those has at least one country that can usually be counted on to vote for it).

However, Finland gets more than a few political votes.

All the scandinavian countries vote for each other, regardless of the drivel they present as a song.
and Finland gets plenty of "political" votes from their formerly eastern block neighbors as well.

You've totally lost me there, Beth. I'm sure Finland, along with everyone else (your point, in fact), receives a few political votes, but how many times has it won historically? Finland won this year because it was the rogue entry (and despite all the political voting).

when was the last time Germany or France won?

The Scandinavian countries often win. And they all vote for each other.

but who cares, it's a stupid contest with incredibly awful songs (and that's a very liberal use of the term song) that many people watch more for the groan factor than anything else?
