Well, I watched it but I'm not a Non-European citizen.. :rotfl2:

I was just curious to see everyone's opinion on it. Over here we spend too much time grumbling over it being fixed than actually enjoying the darned thing.. :rotfl2:

I watched it!
Oh wait, i'm European...

ETA: What do you think about the UK song? I mean... did you really like it?

To be honest with you.... Not intially.. But it was the best we could come up with.. :rotfl2:

I know what you're talking about, but I've only heard of it while I was actually in Europe. Does it even show on tv in the States?

I've watched some of the videos (real gems -- 'Danzing' anyone? :p) on youtube. I had 'Vampires are Alive' stuck in my head most of the day on Friday.

They show it on the internet. :)

If I got it right, they said Tanzen. It means 'Dance' in german. :)

I haven't heard that one.. I have Hungary's in my head. :)

Another European reporting in here - and living as I do in Helsinki, I even got to go to the street party!

As far as I can tell, just about no one in the U.S. knows (or cares) about it. However, I hear tell that someone is now bringing the concept to the U.S. - I wonder if that pig will ever fly in the American market? :rolleyes1

Wow that's quite Cool! :goodvibes

That's Quite Probably True. :thumbsup2 But meh, we can still talk about it. :thumbsup2

American Eurovision? :lmao:

Saw the video of Finland from last year, now that was crazy!

I liked the "movie" they showed when the show started. I thought that was pretty cool. As well as the "intermission", the muisc was hard, but it went well with the ballet. I really liked that :)

Today, I heard on the radio that the song that won is a copy of an Albanian song. Exactly the same song, just different language. I wonder how that one will turn out. Just imagin that Ukraine would still win!!! :rotfl:

I kinda liked the UK-song, it reminded me of the group Aqua (I'm a Barbie-girl in a Barbie-wo-orld, lalala) but we are used to better stuff from the UK :)

That's what I heard. According to a popular Albanian musician, Soni Malaj, Molitva is a copy of her "Ndarja", and she is threatening to take the matter to court. YouTube apparently already has a clip with the two mixed together. Those who have seen this say that there are some similarities, but scarcely enough to support claims that one is a copy of the other. My own impression is that no matter what you compose, there will always be someone who says that it's a copy of something else.

Some more info on the rumor that the Eurovision Song Contest might get a U.S. rival: apparently the idea has been kicked around for at least a year or two. According to a BBC news story from way back on Feb. 11, 2006 ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4703748.stm ),

"US to emulate Eurovision contest"

"A US music competition based on the Eurovision Song Contest is being developed by the American network NBC. The programme is intended to challenge American Idol, a ratings winner which is screened on rival network Fox.

A grand final with a singing representative from each US state and public voting is planned.

"Eurovision is the granddaddy of all talent shows and the Super Bowl of singing," said Ben Silverman, chairman of series producers Reveille.

An online competition will be held to find singers from each US state to go forward to the grand final, with the winner landing a recording contract.

Further details of the new contest are still in development, while it is expected to become a series rather than a one-off event."

Since then, nothing has been heard. Could it be a non-starter? :happytv:
