Just wondered how long the Eurostar is in the tunnel for?

Not to sure about being in a tunnel under the sea, so I'm trying not to think about it too much. But I just think I'd like to know:

When you first enter the tunnel how long does it take until you're back up in the open again?

:thumbsup2 Thanks

hiya,i`m assuming its as long as the eurotunnel is which was about 30 mins underground? i`m sure someone will come along soon with the answer though

Thanks Liz

30 mins doesn't sound too bad, I was dreading it taking over an hour :rolleyes1

My daughter is not keen on the idea as the first time we went through the train tunnel on the way into Edinburgh the carriage lights went out and it was pitch black. I am taking a small torch for this trip just in case. :rotfl2: It'll make us feel better about it.

that's a great question, i'd like to know the answer too,
does anyone know if you get any great views of the castle as you enter france, well nearer to dlp obviously!

Yes it's about 30 minutes (or slightly less). I was really worried the first time as I hate going from Waterloo to Embankment under the Thames. I was surprised to find I wasn't at all anxious in the tunnel and have used both the Eurostar and Eurotunnel services since. It certainly beats flying to Paris.

If I remember rightly you can see Space Mountain as you approach DLRP by Eurostar.:goodvibes

Start queuing for the buffet car before your enter, by the time you get the food you will be out of the tunnel.:rotfl2:

The only small issue with the tunnel is your ears keep poping.

:thumbsup2 Thanks everyone!
Just under half hour sounds great :) I'm sure we'll be fine, its just nice to know what to expect.

I've got to buy food for the train tomorow so I'll pick up some boiled sweets for us to suck in case we have problems with our ears - thanks for the tip :thumbsup2

We'll be looking out for our first view, although it might be a little tricky :rotfl: we've been allocated rear facing seats.

For me the tunnel part of the trip is short enough to not be an issue. The problem bits are once you're out of the tunnel the over land part to DLRP is long and a bit tedius, especially on the way back with screaming upset kids not wanting to go home yet!

As for your ears, mine are quite bad usually on flights, but I've never really had a problem on the eurostar - I suppose its because the slope is so gradual the pressure change is quite slow.

The tunnel was not a problem -- I think I slept.

My ears only pop when i'm travel on eurotunnel when the train crosses to the other tunnel but when I went on Eurostar I didn't have a problem.
