HI please can anyone confirm for me that we get reserved allocated seating on Eurostar (normal class) I just suddenly thought of the mayhem that may ensue if they didn't!!
Yes, you do get reserved seating, even though sometimes you don't find out where you are seated until you collect your tickets prior to check-in (if you don't get tickets in advance). You may have to fight for luggage space though
Plus, you will be seated with your travelling companions, even though sometimes from the seating numbers it appears that you aren't. Last time we travelled on the Eurostar it appeared that my daughter would be 2 seats behind me, when in reality she was actually opposite me!
On our return trip this week I heard a number of people complaining that they weren't with their families, but that seemed to be groups of 3 that were split up, not any group of 2. The families that were affected slotted into empty seats to sit together anyway, so everyone was happy.

i am confused by that..luggage space to fight for it?? I jsut booked on the Eurostar for Aug. from Waterloo to DLP on leisure class. I only have e mail notification to take with me and get tickets at the station. ( i booked thruough eurostar.com) Don't all passengers get luggage space?? also there is the 4 of us traveling and i got club 4 seating. so i am safe and we wont be seperated..right??
this is scaring me. i want it to be a smooth process. first time vactioning internationally for our family.
can you give me more tips?? i have never done this before.
Firstly, sorry if I have confused you. I am not sure what leisure class is, or club 4....
We have only ever travelled in standard class and from what I recall there is a luggage area at the end of each carriage. There is also space between seats, but this is only big enough for holdalls. Plus there are overhead racks but these tend to get used for bags you want acccess to on the journey and jackets, etc (I remember it gets very warm on the train). Since I suspect some passengers are lugging one or two suitcases (families away for a week?) the luggage space at each end soon fills up. If you are tavelling light with holdalls you may have less of a problem, same applies if you are travelling in a different class that may provide more space.
that's ok!
i thought i was missing something since i am soo inexperience with this. I am only an expert on US travel and WDW!!!
from what i understand, club 4 is 4 seats around the table..2 and 2 facing each other!! and in leisure class you get meals and bigger/reclining seats! Little higher fare than standard, but we figure what the heck, will probably only experimence this once!!
You're right Melinda, and no need to worry about luggage in Leisure Select (Eurostar's equivalent of 1st class). It is very rare for the Leisure Select carriages to be full so you will have plenty of luggage space.
I am a great fan of the Eurostar, it is such a painless way to travel!
I am too, this will be my 4th time in fact, I've been to Bruges, DLP and Kimbee and I enjoyed a 2-for-1 trip to Lille last October. I also find it painless and I've never been in anything better than Standard Class
I'm not happy about the change to St Pancras in November however, Waterloo is so much more convenient for us, and I hate the tube!
