ET's Pre trip and Trip report. TR pg 6 #87. New 10/14 THE END on pg 19 #271

Yippie, I am getting ready to go soon too. I got my ME tags today and I am soo fired up. I just HAD to post my pre-trippy! I know that you will have a blast! Loving your report thus far!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hey ET where are you? We're starting to run out of popcorn! popcorn::

I'm late, I'm late... ET I just now found yout TR... and it's fantastic so far!
About the toilets - were they in Paris? If so, I totally understand your DD's need for pics. My mom and I went to Paris last year and we talked about the toilets endlessly! I think my fave was in Galleries Lafayette department store - the unisex bathrooms. Wish I'd had my camera that night to capture the look on my mom's face when we came out! :rotfl2:

Looking forward to more of your adventures... WAIT, we'll be there the same time! Where will you be staying?

The toilets are definetly European. One was in Belgium, one was in Ireland, and one was in England. I'm sure we have pictures of more toilets, but I don't know what she did with them. These three were from some of the hotels we stayed at. My favorite part was trying to find change for the bathrooms! If you weren't in a mall or restaraunt, you had to pay to go to the bathroom! With 3 adults and 3 kids we carried ALOT of change around. We had a unisex bathroom in Austria and one in Germany. But there were always attendants.... :teeth: My kids nearly flipped when a man walked into the restroom we were in. It was priceless! :lmao: Thankfully we were leaving also.

Is it an omen??? Ernesto makes an entrance into Florida scaring all of us would be vacationers with thoughts of a closed Disney. Then to make matters worse, sickness took over at our house, and at the house of the friends going with us. My friend Mickeygirl76 who will be traveling with us has had to go to the doctor this week for problems that are looking more like surgery type problems and we are hoping that she can wait until after Disney to have anything done. Pray hard everyone. She really is scared that she might miss the trip. She’s more Mickey crazy than even I am. We have 8 more days to get ready to leave and I have packed three times and I am trying to keep from packing and unpacking anything else. I have my Mickey money, I have etickets for the plane, and all my ADR’s. This is like a melodrama…. Will their trip be interrupted by hurricane F? (Okay all you disser cult people I know where your mind went….. ) Will she need surgery? Will everyone be well enough to travel? Will they loose their tickets?

And I realized….I will be wearing white after Labor day!!! Some of my shorts and capris are white. Oprah says that okay nowadays, but I hope I don’t get a ticket from the fashion police. I won’t be wearing white shoes….Okay? I’m wearing lime green crocs! And my kids are wearing blue, yellow, brown, and my dh even got a pair in black. You don’t know how hard THAT was to accomplish.
DH “But they’re ugly.”
Me “Yes, but just try them on.”
DH “I don’t want to.”
Me “Come on. You know you’re feet hurt you. These will keep your feet from hurting at Disney world.”
DH “But they’re ugly.”
Me “Is that all you have to say about them.”
DH “Yes.”
Me “Well then, that is not a good enough argument sweetheart. Because I have seen some of the clothes YOU wear.”
He’s looks at me like he should be offended. Then he reaches down and tries them on.
DH “Hey, these are comfortable.”
I’m the one in the background banging my head on the wall. Does every conversation with a male have to be so frustrating? I don’t remember it being like that when we were dating. Or was I just so infatuated I didn’t notice it?

I ordered things for my kids to take with us, like glow sticks, and novelty items. We had extra so I told my kids that they could hand them out to anyone they saw that didn’t have anything. It’s like little girl halos with the long streamers and glow bracelets, and we have light up pooh, tigger, and eeyore suckers. But I got to thinking, someone who didn’t know us might not be too happy to take a sucker from us….. Hey, I’m overprotective, so I understand completely. I just hope someone doesn’t get upset with them for handing their kid a bopper head, halo or glow stick. I explained to my kids that some people wouldn’t like it, but others wouldn’t have a problem with it. They just needed to ask the parent before handing it to the child. Hopefully without the child knowing what’s going on. My oldest daughter loves the idea of giving things away. She thinks she’ll have more fun doing that than wearing it herself. Hey, it’s Disney. Whatever makes you and others happy. Hopefully I will teach them to think about others and not just themselves.

I can’t wait to go. The more I talk about it, the more excited I get. I just hope all my suitcases follow me. Or we won’t be wearing ANY white or non white clothes at Disney World! And to any of you that will be meeting me. Please disregard the state of my hair. I have nothing to say about it. It was a bad haircut. Long story. And I have been informed by my new beautician that it will just have to grow out. OUCH. That hurt. My daughter at one point said I looked like a bad Polly Pocket. OUCH again. You just gotta love kids, otherwise you might harm them when they make these cute and innocent remarks. My husband doesn’t say anything. He knows enough to keep quiet. Very smart man. Until later….

I am so sorry about everyone being sick! I really hope your friend does not need surgery :sad2:

I guess I must be in total denial. I haven't packed a thing! (Where is my suitcase?)

Please keep us updated!

ET-I'm sorry about your friend. I hope she doesn't need surgery either! You do have some really nice ideas. Giving things out to other kids! That's really thoughtful! :sunny:

The husband thing...I've been saying the exact same thing to myself lately. Everything is a debate. I SWEAR he wasn't like that when we were dating, but of course, he says that he's still the same and that I'M different.....?????? :confused3

About the hair...Polly Pocket.... :rotfl: (sorry, but that was funny!) It stinks that it happened before your trip. Isn't that always the way it goes!!

Go with the white. It's so close to Labor Day...who cares! Now I wouldn't wear white in January.....You'll be fine. I hope your trip is sooooooo much fun! You're going to WDW!! :thumbsup2

I'm saying a little prayer for all of you going to WDW in the next week or so....I hope a hurricane doesn't ruin your trips!

GMAX-Let the OCD expert help you pack!! Get out your list....now add item #1 to bag....check.....add second item....check!! :thumbsup2 I would have my bags packed and by the front door by now. Now DH would wait until the night before and then continue the morning of..... :confused3 (As I run around the house thinking I forgot something. Shouting: Where's my list???!!!!!)

Have a great trip!! :sunny:

OMG! I love the pre-trip report! We haven't met (I haven't been a good diser this year :confused3 ) but my family and I will be there at the same time as you guys as our trip is Sept. 4th through 17th! We find this time of year to be the best! :surfweb: I need more coffee like this guy because we leave Monday night (the 4th) and I have yet to even look at the suitcase so Glendamax you can start feeling better about the fact you haven't packed right now! I am the bad Dis cookie  ! The most I have done is make sure everyone has enough clothes, granted they are in the laundry room some NWT and some regular summer stuff, but I'm sure I'll find them somehow (if I get lost please ask Mickey to send out a Character search party, at least that sounds kinda fun  ).

See you there, with lime green Mickey's on!

Kelly

White capris look fabulous with lime CROCS!!!

Funny, I had the near exact same conversation with my GDH around x-mas time.
Long story short, his black crocs are almost all he ever has on his feet! He does sometime wear SOCKS with them....Which is NOT cool. Maybe in Autumn or winter. NO WAY! Not even discreet footie socks. FULLY pulled up with crew sock (no sport stripes, thank goodness). I can just see the camera crew of What Not To Wear ruining our vacation!!! He claims it's to avoid blisters. Hello??? Body-Glide, Bucko!!!

Now I just have to deal with his SOCK TAN!!! My GDH (OAR*: Goofy Ding-a-ling-Husband) is my OPPOSITE, for those who meet us in person. That's why we get along so well. That, and the fact he was my first boyfriend who did NOT like Star Trek!

ET-great trip report! It was sure worth getting out of bed for. Even I learned some things I didn't know. :lmao: I love seeing the world from your POV.

OK, surgery or not, I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!! I'm sure I'll be fine. Thanks everyone for the prayers. You might want to offer up some for the doctors too, because they are going to need the Vicadin if they try to stop me from going. :rotfl:

The funny thing is that I'm almost as excited about meeting Glendamax and UMama as just being there. Almost! :cloud9:

I have to go lay down, but y'all have a great Disney day!!!!!!

YAY! I'm not the only one! I really don't think I'll start packing until 2 days before I leave. I think I may have to check 2 bags with all the restrictions now though. Which will be a bit more work. Kelly I hope we do run into each other!

ET, did you notice my use of double quotes :cool1:

Hey ET and Mickeygirl76 I am sendinging some prayers and pixiedust: your way. Hope everyone is feeling well and energized for the upcoming trip to the House O Mouse. Looking forward to meeting ya'll! :goodvibes

As far as packing goes....I will be packing the day before. Sweating, stressing, running around like a loon....Why you ask. Our kiddos do not know about the trip and we aren't telling them until the night before. I cannot begin packing because they will notice and I will have to lie...I mean embellish the truth, yet again. :rotfl: :rotfl:

We are also celebrating our B-Days while we're there. My actual day is Aug 1 but I have told my kids that I was moving mine to Sept. 12th. party:They never even asked why. I know why ...I want to celebrate with the mouse.

I am so excited about the trip I am about to burst! :woohoo:
We are doing the single digit dance 9 days...and counting! :dancer::banana: :dancer:

I am 96 hours away from leaving. On a jet plane. Not looking foreward to a 3 hr. layover in Atlanta- which used to only be a 2 hr. one but it recently changed. POOP! I guess we'll sleep? Eat Cinnabons??? !

Oooh, a 3 hour layover with a two year old. You are a very brave woman. Eat lots of cinnabons for the energy and comfort it will give you. BTW you know that calories don't count on vacation, right?
You're going to be on your way before you know it....woohoo.....Are you posting on your pre trip report yet...tommorrow is Sept. 1st you know ;)

What could be the worst thing that could happen right before your trip? Lets’ see, I didn’t panic about the hurricane, or my friends surgery scare, and I lived thru my illness. So what is left? Hmmm, do you remember when I told you about the ex husband in the first part of this trip report? Enter the dreaded ex husband. He knows we are going on vacation but he doesn’t know where yet. The girls told him it was a surprise. They are scared he’ll get mad at them. Nice. So since the vacation falls on his weekend, which he never can keep up with or doesn’t care to keep up with, he has asked to come and get them this weekend. Right before our trip. I am not looking forward to this. He brought them back sunburned last time. Plus the fact that it usually takes me several days to get them unwound after they visit him. I am soooooo excited right now. He wants to take them swimming and I always have really bad thoughts on his taking them swimming. I don’t even want to think about it right now. I guess I can look forward to taking lobsters to Disneyworld with me. I packed sunscreen for them for the trip, but it won’t help if they come back pre burned.

I know a lot of you are thinking, why not just send sunscreen with them to their dad’s? I do. I also send new bathing suits for them to leave there when they visit. He refuses to buy them anything. Unless it’s something I expressly forbid them to have …He feeds them pop tarts breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So, no pop tarts for us on this trip. If they stay long enough he takes them out for pizza. If it’s just overnite he lets them live on pop tarts. His girlfriend will even make herself food, but won’t make any for them. I just thank God that it’s only for 2-3 days at a time. I make sure they eat before they leave and we feed them when they get home. I have even snuck food in their suitcases. Crackers, cheese, slim jims (my middle daughter loves these), peanut butter crackers, etc. Which I now know to call Nabs. (Maybe I just thought I lived in the South because I never heard them called that before…) It’s all just to make sure they get fed something more substantial than a pop tart. I personally have nothing against pop tarts, but living on them for a day or two is just plain bad.

Enough ranting. I am ready to go. I finished t-shirts for the girls, bought last minute beauty items, and caught a great sale at the mall. Maybe I’m not finished packing after all. I may have to rethink a few things. I found a cute Eeyore t-shirt which I might just have to wear on the day we do tea! Not to dressy, not to casual, well maybe a little casual but it’s dressy enough for Disney! That’s what I like about Disney World. They love you no matter what you wear. Except in some of the nicer restaurants, they don’t love you if you go sleeveless….. :teeth: They are nice about it though.

I was just thinking today how I was such a newbie the first time I went to WDW. I ate at the California Grill, managed to just walk up and get seated, with no ADR. I was then told by the waiter that you can actually see the fireworks from MK, when they have fireworks. Again, I didn’t know that they only had fireworks on certain days in slow months like September. I was such a goof. I bought a guide book to WDW and read it from cover to cover before we went and I still didn’t know half the things I probably needed to know. That’s what I love about the Disboards. You can find a lot of useful information on here without sorting through tons of useless information. Just by chatting you find out some of the strangest things. And that’s strangely enough exactly what you needed to know. Unfortunately for me, I found the disboards after my first trip of trial and error. But I still gained a lot of information on things I didn’t know. Well only 6 more days until we take off. This may be my last installment before we leave unless something interesting happens before we leave.

I’m still a little loopy from being sick last week, so if I write something strange, just ignore it. Thank goodness for spell check! See ya’ll soon
