Ethical WWYD for ticket/child's age

DD turns 10 on 9/16. I am considering taking her to DLR for a 3 day weekend for her birthday, with our first day being 9/15 when she is still 9. I have an AP but she does not, so I would buy a 3 day PH. Would you by one for the 3-9 year range, or the 10+ (adult) PH?

I am one of the ones that is a stickler for the rules. My granddaughter got a ticket when she was 3 years and 2 days. My grandson turned 3 May 2X, and when we went on May 25, he had a ticket.

All that said, your trip starts on the 15th. You buy her ticket it based on the age of the first day. If you were starting on the 16th, I'd buy the adult pass.

I mean, at Disney World, if you start a 10-day trip the day before your kid turns 3, you don’t pay for him/her. At least that’s how it was in 2016. So I’m not making that part up.

I bought my daughter’s AP the day BEFORE she turned 3, so I don’t mess around... but you don’t change age midway through a Disney trip.

Yup. Whatever you start your ticket on is the age you are for the whole ticket. AP’s are a big 3rd birthday deal in our house. I do not sneak my kids in. But your kiddo is totally legit with a multi day child ticket if the first admission is when they are 9!

Agreeing with everyone else. We were told by a CM,when buying tickets a few years back, that you buy the ticket based on the age of the child when the trip begins.

Be sure to tell your daughter to answer truthfully if any CM at the turnstiles asks her age: she was 9 when you started your visit and just turned 10! So Happy Birthday to her!

Thank you guys for the reassurance. That is how I thought it was, but I figured I'd get the general consensus. She's a tall kid and even this past April when we did 2 character meals they wanted to charge her as an adult when she was 9 1/2 so I had to correct them (listen, at 9 1/2 I'm going to fight to save that money at a character meal!!)

She's a tall kid and even this past April when we did 2 character meals they wanted to charge her as an adult when she was 9 1/2 so I had to correct them (listen, at 9 1/2 I'm going to fight to save that money at a character meal!!)

Oh, crap! I forgot about this. We have the BB F! dinner and Surf's Up breakfast booked, and I completely forgot that my DD is now 10 and will be charged as an adult for both of those. I bbought her an adult admission ticket, but I completely forgot to figure it in for our specials. I was budgeting based on all of our past trips when she still qualified as a child. Nuts. We've got Afternoon Tea booked, also - she'll be an adult at that as well.

Well, this is a fine how-do-you-do.

Hey, it says 9 and under, not under 9, so you are right. Add to this, they have always asked the kids their age without saying "S/he looks to be 10", CM shouldn't have done that.

Re: Afternoon tea, my daughter is 28. She orders the kid's tea because she prefers the kid's sandwiches and scone. I have only had one say anything, and I simply said "Charge me as an adult, but throw on an extra PB sandwich and a scone if you do it." And they did. But the majority of the time, they just charge me the child's price. Just order the kid's tea if she would prefer that.

The rest, since it is entertainment, you will have to have the adult price.
