Ethernet at BWV?

I'll bring a laptop to down load my photos, and it will be the PC laptop since there's a minute chance I'll be bothered while I'm on vacation and have to connect into work.

While it would be very convenient (and doable, as I've posted ages ago) to have a wireless network in the DVC resorts for the few times I need to connect for work purposes, I'd personally be just as happy if they never provided anything more than POTS.

Toys are nice but I'm on vacation.

The only technology I want to be exposed to is the hidden stuff that makes the magic happen. I'd rather Disney spend the money on hiring more CM's and keeping the resorts and parks cleaner and friendlier places than replicate my normal environment.

Rich, you forgot to mention shaving and drinking coffee while using your electronic devices. We'll just have to wonder if you need to apply makeup. :p

I would be curious to know how they would fund such a project? Would the budget come from dues to pay general resort maintenance/refurbishment; would it be voted on as a "special project" by management, ie. new dues; or would WDW Resorts, corporately, fund DVC resort upgrades along with the regular resorts.

If we had to pay for this stuff out of our dues our burden might be higher than if it was funded by WDW resorts. Who'd pay for this stuff, anyway?

Ultimately, we the consumer would. With the cash resorts it would be easy to handle it through a pay as you go effort. DVC would be different in that you could charge for it through dues...in which case we'd all pay for it and we'd all better get it for free and the cash renters would get it for a cash fee...or it could be a pay as you go thing.

From an install perspective, wireless would be easiest to hook-up, but management/support of it could be a nightmare if you did it right and did it securely. A wired network would be easier to manage access, but more costly to run the copper.

Anyone know if there are plans for higher speed access at SSR? Now is the time to run the cable.

They should be able to turn "high speed in room internet access" into a profit center. I'd bet they have the core infrastructure needed at the front desks. They'd have to extend to the rooms, or possibly an "internet cafe type setup" .... I'm assuming there would be a charge .... per day / per hour. I think of it like pay-per-view.

We'd pay to send those great disney pics to the grandparents every day!
