hi all,

I haven't been on the board for a while as we haven't been to Orlando for twelve months. My uncle has just told me that ET is closing?!

I know there have been rumours in the past, but surely I haven't missed news this big?

Please tell me it isn't so?:sad1:

Is your uncle a high up employee with UO ?
Hahaha!! No, just someone that has got an idea in his head and believed he'd seen/heard it somewhere!!

I haven't been on the boards for a little while (last year we visited Aulani and the west coast), so I was a bit worried I missed some dreadful news!! I've set my uncle straight now though!!

All other ET rides at other locations have been closed, but USF is here to stay. I honestly wish they would do a little bit of an update, but it seems that Universal does not want to make the effort. I do not think it will disappear anytime soon. However, never say never, as it's the only surviving ET left. I would hope they would keep it around since it's also the only original attraction left.

The DIS Unplugged podcast mentioned at one time there was a rumor of the World Expo area going away to become Nintendo...who knows though?

If they did away with Jaws and Back to the Future, not much is sacred.

Thanks everyone for posting.

I must say, I do love ET (although I was also a sucker for Jaws and particularly loved kongfrontation).

I know they've gone anyway now, but I'd have lost Twister and Earthquake way before the other three!

As you say, nothing is untouchable, but I would love ET to be the one bit of 'history' that remains - providing they get that technology working at the end of the ride - I actually get quite sad when I don't hear our names before we get off!!

The Universal Studios Florida opening day attraction list of still open attractions is very small. The only survivor other than the previously indicated E.T. Adventure is Universal Orlando's Horror Make-Up Show. Then again the opening day list was not all that large with many of the headliners; such as Kongfrontation / Earthquake: The Big One / Jaws, were nowhere near ready for daily operation.

G’day

I love this ride, so does my 5 yr old! I think it could be updated with a little better technology as far as the ride itself goes but still be ride-able for younger kids. I bet we rode this at least 10 times last Summer lol and then had to come home and buy the dvd for the little one lol

It was working well when we rode it yesterday....probably the first time that we all actually clearly heard all of our names!

With ET Spielberg 's baby, I doubt that ride will disappear anytime soon in the future

not sure if fact but a TM told me a few years ago it's still there as Spielberg has final say as to possibility of it being removed.:confused3 I hope they keep it intact.
