Just read the sticky and on pg 3 someone says
If you use the link in page one it won't cost you for the ESTA.

This confuses me as I've always heard its $14 pp.

Please put me straight. Going to do them tomorrow I think.

i paid £45.87/ 70$ for all 5 of ours , they did used to be free so maybe its a old comment

Yup, they were free until a few years ago when a fee was added.
