we have just filled out an esta application for our 6 year old DD. She's had a new passport this year so it was only her esta that needed renewing as everyone else's esta is still valid from last year. The reply came back immediately as "travel not authorised" with no explanation. Can't imagine why a 6 year old's application would be declined !! Anyone else had a similar experience ? What is the next step ? Thanks for any advice

Could it be because America is on High Alert??? panicking !!!!!

just called the Department of Homeland Security Customs and border protection call centre in the USA, we have incorrectly answered a question 'Yes' , normally they would make you apply for a visa but a very kind American man who was very helpful has told us to re apply in 24 hours!!!!!!! *now opening second bottle of wine*

Are you 100% sure you filled in all the details correctly?
If it were me I would be tempted to do it again, double check everything then check again before submitting.
If it comes back with the same result it may be worth a phone call to try and explain the situation. I would be surprised if they uphold the denial of authorisaztion of a 6 year old.

Glad you got an answer. Double check it before hitting the apply button :rotfl2:

lesson learnt, double check everything, you can't 'try again' once you have applied they have your passport number and they wont accept a second attempt ( we tried) just glad the kind American man at the call centre took a pragmatic approach!
