ESPN augmented reality

According to some sources, Disney filed a patent for what could potentially be augumented reality at ESPN Wide World Of Sports.
According to the patent, it would allow people watching a sport (say football), be able to see more information. Like if you have no idea what the rules to football are, it could tell you. I think this is cool and I hope it becomes a reality.

Not sure why they would bring this to wide world of sports. You don’t go there unless you are going to an event.

True, but I'd imagine it's only to test it out. Maybe one day they'll incorporate it onto rides. (Even though it would probably ruin the magic.)

True, I haven’t been there since the days of the all-star cafe? (I think that was before the ESPN branding). It would have been fun, but expensive if my boys had a chance to play there.

As a venue sales gimmick, travel sports parents may want to watch their kids with a live Statcast-type service.

I wonder if this would be an overlay system that will be customized on the user's knowledge of the sport.
