Escape Weddings- What do you do for a reception?

Would you wear your wedding attire to Ohana's? Can they take 20 people?
If Ohana's is right after your wedding, yes. I'm pretty sure they can handle 20 people, but it'll be a 5pm dinner
Also, what is the max amount of people you can bring on the Grand 1? Do you think it i rude not to invite all guests?
Grand 1 can hold 18 guests. I honestly think it's a little rude to not invite people, unless you're only going to invite family, but that's my opinion

Also, is there a rehearsal dinner for escape weddings?
There is no official rehearsal for an escape wedding, but you can have dinner the night before and call it the rehearsal dinner if you'd like.

Hope that helps some

Thanks, I appreciate your honesty.

Maybe I will do a GF tea for a rehearsal....just because I want an excuse to do it!

Before they got a new boat for the Grand 1 (the old only held 12) we considered doing 2 pontoon boats for everyone to do the Wishes cruise. You could do something like that if you really wanted to do a cruise and are over the 18 person limit.

I have to admit, we were not ideal hosts, sort of. We kept our invite list to 16so that we could have the Grand 1 with the 18 of us. At the last minute, one of my aunts asked to come. My parents called and asked me if she and my cousin could come or not. I told them that the only way we'd have room for them on the boat was if my bil didn't make it (he's a pilot and he was in training so we weren't sure right up until that day). He wound up missing the ceremony but making dinner and the cruise. Since they invited themselves and said they just really wanted to see the wedding, and they got to do the cake cutting and dinner, I didn't feel too bad that they had to skip the boat. I tried not to talk about it too much either at dinner so they wouldn't feel too bad.

Dumb question - do they pipe the music and narration from Wishes on the boat?

They do, but in grand Disney fashion there is an additional charge for it.

There's not an extra charge for music on the Grand 1 - it's included in the $450 price. Some of the pontoons have music, and those are more expensive than the ones without, so in essence they are charging for the music.

We're having our ceremony at 2:30 at Sea Breeze Point and will be going to O'Hana for dinner with everyone. We're not sure if we want to do a Dessert Party that night or the night before and maybe on our wedding night we will do a fireworks cruise or something. We just want to keep it fun and relaxing.

I just wanted to say thank you to the original poster for posting this thread, as I am totally interested in this as well!

Tiggerific & those that are going to or have gone to Ohanas/Chef Mickeys, how did it work out for you?

I am totally interested in doing a post Escape character dinner, but I have never been to either of those resteraunts, and my fam thinks it will be too casual. I love the idea, and think casual will be fun & relaxing!

I am interested in hearing feedback about post escape OHANAS AND CHEF MICKEYS

How hard is it to get from SBP to Chef Mickeys or Ohanas?

How hard is it to get from SBP to Chef Mickeys or Ohanas?

I was thinking the same thing. I think I would just get the limo to drive us there and take us back from SBP. We are staying at the Beach Club, so we really will not need a limo until after anyway.

What do you all think of doing the luau at the Poly for the after ceremony dinner? I am trying to plan a wedding for my sis. :) This would be for about 18 people.

Its been a loooong time since I have done the luau, but at the time I didn't like it. Even though I was a kid, I didn't like all of the younger screaming kids around us. I don't have the best memories. If you have never been I might try to go check it out ahead of time before you commit to it. One of the nice things is that when we were there the tables were huge so if they are still the same you could all be seated most likely at the same table or atleast at two tables near each other.

I have wishes cruise questions!!! I put this question up on my PJ but haven't gotten much response. We got engaged on the grand 1. I LOVED it. I wanted to rent pontoon boats so our 60 guests could see the fireworks and have a similar experience. However we are going to be there in the very end of January so I am sure it will be chilly. If we go this route I was planning to provide blankets as favors. Do you guys think its a mistake? So this isn't a reception or even on our wedding day but supposed to be more of a fun welcome activity for the first night that everyone is there.

Actually, i have been to the luau, last year, and we had a great time.. i guess it's similar to other expierences, the luck of the draw.. LOL :)

If you liked it then I would say to go for it! Maybe we should go back and try it again - like I said its been a looong time. I do remember getting a cool picture of us with the characters super imposed.

They did away with the character luau years ago. I never went to that one. I have been to the luau that they have now and I did enjoy it. One thing to keep in mind if your wedding is in a winter month is that if it is too cold the luau can get cancelled.

I have a few more questions, and would be grateful for any answers! :)

#1) How much does a bottle of wine typically cost at a restaurant?

#2) Can you order bottles of wine from Ohana?

#3) Is a party of 20 too big for Kona? (I love it there sooooo much, and would LOVE to have a reception there!!)

#4) Has anyone had a reception (or large dinner) anywhere in the Boardwalk area? We are staying at YBC and having our ceremony at SBP, so it would be nice to eat there. However, Yachtsman Steakhouse is probably too much for our budget.

I would greatly appreciate any responses! Thanks so much!

We were thinking of Spoodles on the boardwalk for our reception - I've seen a couple of brides do this its really handy for the SBP and YCG :)

I dont see why you couldnt do it there? We were going to have a nosey at it during our October trip!

EDIT - Scrap the Spoodles idea its closing!!!!!
