Escape to Neverland - A new Tagliarchy adventure!!

Good morning (well afternoon here!) everyone.

Slo When I was younger we always left a mince pie and a glass of sherry out for Santa and a carrot and glass of milk for Rudolph. I guess I just presumed everyone did this!! That reminds me, I need to bake my mince pies today!! Oh and good luck with getting your orders done.

I'm quite happy today. Pete decided to collect Star Wars pins on our visit to Disneyland, but when we got back we realised that there was 1 he did not get to complete the collection. But I managed to find it today, so have ordered it! Also I collect pins from all the Disney hotels we have stayed in, when we stayed at the Grand Californian hey did not have any pins of the hotel. But when I got home I found out that 2 days after we left they reliesed one! Just my luck. But I have found one on ebay, so I am hoping I win it!!

Well I guess I should go and do some housework!

Have a good day everyone.

DanaUK - we put cookies and milk for Santa and the sprinkle some glitter and oatmeal on the snow so that the raindeer can find our house..

Hope you get the pins..

Stephanie has a Teletubbies Christmas tape with a segment on how Christmas Crackers are made - pretty interesting!!!! I always wondered if you could buy those in this county, and now thanks to ibounce, I know where to find them :thumbsup2

Ariel - Have a safe trip home!! What does your mom usually bake?

Danauk and Ariel - I DVR'd a special on how Christmas is celebrated in different European countries, and one of the coutries on this special was England. They talked about minced pies, and how minced pies are left out for Santa - I thought that was interesting!!!! Did you leave out minced pies for Santa? Stephanie and I were really enjoying this special last night, and I would like to finish it tonight, if time permits.

Thank you :goodvibes. I have just been packing the car up so when Nick gets home from work tonight we can just get going. I'm not looking forward to it but I am looking forward to seeing my family so can't wait for that :lovestruc. My Mum usually bakes Caramels, which are like caramel shortbreads but hers are sooooo good, mince pies, cookies, usually a Christmas cake but it never gets eaten so this year her and Sophie made a yule log instead. She also makes lots of pasta salads and things like that. Ummmmmm I cannot wait :cloud9:

Yes mince pies are the common thing to leave out but we always leave out Mum's caramel's instead as Mum said after all those mince pies its nice for him to have something a bit different. So we put out a glass of sherry and a caramel for santa, and a saucer of water and a carrot for the reindeer. Sophie loves to do it, the trouble is I don't know whether she still believes or not :confused3. Oh and crackers are great fun, I have some mini Winnie the Pooh ones for when Mum and Sophie come back up to ours :)

Ariel - glad your feeling better..have a safe trip. Caramels sounds good.. can you share the recipe? Who gets the glass of sherry?? and why just one?? LOL

Are you trying to get Santa drunk before he hits the USA.. maybe that's why we leave milk and cookies so he has an opportunity to sober up before returning home.. LOL :rotfl:

Thanks :goodvibes

I don't know the recipe myself I am afraid but will get it off my Mum. Santa gets the sherry of course, and he loves it in our house, its always all gone, every last drop . I think its quite a traditional thing over here to leave out sherry, I suppose its to get santa all warm inside before he has to hit the colder parts of the world :confused3

LOL:rotfl: maybe we should open a bottle for Santa too.. any special kind that he likes??

I guess really we shouldn't all leave sherry out for Santa here, I mean if every house does it wouldn't he be drunk in charge of his sleigh? I mean drink driving is a big no no!! We usually left out Harveys Bristol Cream sherry abd it was always gone in the morning!!

Me again, I thought I would stop by on this thread to
Make my 10,000th post!!:cool1:

Hi all!

Our dog seems to be on the mend. She is much more like her old self. We are spoiling her with healthy wet food for now - I have not seen her eat her dry yet. It is so hard with 3 dogs to tell who is eating what.

It has been raining here. Very out of the ordinary. I have a roast in the crock-pot which seems like fitting food on a day like today!

I hope all is well with everyone.

The kids are doing great. How far apart in age are your boys? We are kind of going through the girls not being able to play together at times - but once they are separated - things seem to work out and I find them together doing something peacefully. I am an only child - so the whole sibling fighting is very new to me.

My mom is acting like she wants to move MLK weekend. We shall see. I am not at all confident she will be ready then.

Oh my, the MIL just phoned. We are going over to their house for Christmas eve as we are spending Christmas day and Boxing day with my parents. They host a little village drop in - mulled wine, mince pies, buffet food type event. Well she just informed me that her friends from their village who are a Lord and Lady are coming over (she used to be the Queens lady in waiting and he was high up in the house of lords - sort of the government but woth lots of money.) So now I don't know what to wear!! I have met them before and they are really nice people and they are very down to earth. But this lady used to dress the Queen!! Eeeek.

Hey everyone i'm just popping in to say happy holidays! I'll be back next week! Talk to everyone soon :)

Safe travels for those going away this season.

Happy 3rd night for those celebrating tonight.

 BlueBayou---hope that your dog feels better soon.

We have a mince pie in the freezer. I think that might be used closer to New Year's. We have a mini-loaf walnut cake that NC Beast's mom sent plus bran muffins that went into the freezer. I'm making sugar cookies (small batch) tomorrow. We have a small stollen for Christmas morning to eat for brunch along with chocolate covered cherries plus eggnog. We have a small fruitcake on hand too. :rolleyes1 We do have veggies and proteins to eat too.

Happy 3rd night of Hanukkah to all who are celebrating tonight.

Lighting All the Candles
Sung to: "I've been working on the railroad"

I am lighting all the candles
On this Hanukkah night.
I am Lighting all the candles
To see them shining bright.
Flicker, flickers little candles,
Fill me with your glow.
Now the time has come to count them,
Ready, set and go
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8.

Happy Christmas Eve and Happy Hunakkah everyone!

Yawn.......so tired!!!!! :surfweb:
I went to bed at midnight last night, and here I am posting early in the morning :faint: I got everything done yesterday, which makes me very happy!!!! :yay: I was up so late last night, because I was baking my Toll House Pan Cookies, and then m&m cookies - yum!!!! After they were done baking, they had to sit and cool, so that's what kept me up the latest. While I was waiting for everything to cool, I started watching White Christmas - I've never seen it before. I didn't finish it, because I wanted to go to bed, but it's on DVR, so I'll have to finish it another time:)

Today will be busy too!!!!
I have many many manh chores to do around the house, go to work to give out Christmas bonuses, go to Jewel to pick up a birthday cake (Mac - I'm stealing your birthday cake for Jesus tradition:goodvibes ), get the girls and I ready for church, be at church by 3pm, in-laws come home with us after church (around 6:30pm), eat, presents, wait for the kids to go to sleep, Santa comes, and hopefully I'll be in bed by midnight :faint: This is always my longest day of the year.
How about you guys - what are your plans for today?????

Danauk and Ariel - Thanks for sharing with us about minced pies, and how you leave Sherry for Santa:santa: I love learning new traditions - thank you for sharing yours!!!!!:goodvibes

Danauk - Congrats on your 10,000th post!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

BB - I"m glad your dog is on the mend!!! :dog:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I'm off to start this very happy and hectic day:santa:
Merry Christmas Eve and Happy Hanukkah to all!!!!

Morning..

It is snowing again.. another 4 inches the weather said.. okay this is enough now.. Dh shoveled about 3 pm yesterday, then i shoveled at 9 pm and then Eric finished shoveling about midnight and now I am getting ready to shovel again.. SNOW!!!!!

Anyway, I left work early yesterday and took a very crowded 3:45 pm train home. So I guess I owe them a few hours but I am off today and tomorrow and Friday I'll work from home.. DH took yesterday off and is off the rest of the week.

BB - my kids are 2 1/2 years apart but 2 years in school.. and being boys they are highly competitive.. when they were little, they got along well but as they grew up they didn't and now it seems they can barely be in the same room. They bicker all the time. . but I keep telling them only 6 months and Geoff is gone.. pirate: working at camp and then off to college.. ( and he has said he will not come back but as my Dad always said.. them that pays have the say ...so i guess he'll be back for holidays and breaks) Eric had a taste of that last summer when Geoff was gone to work at the Boy scout camp.. Eric found out that it wasn't as much funbeing the oly child 'cause then he had to do all the work..

oh well off to shovel..SLO is it snow by your house.. we must have another 10 inches..:wizard: oh to be away from this all and in warm sunny WDW>>
