Facebook friends - I'm sorry you have to hear this again.

I didn't have a good day yesterday :sad2:
Here's the story....

I go into the bathroom at work yesterday, and there's standing water in there:eek:

Not good, because this is also used as storage for finished goods (on rare occassions), and right now there are old highschool class pictures in there. Luckily, they were sitting on cardboard, and the cardboard took all the moisture - I think:rolleyes:.

I go next door, where a Chinese takeout is preparing to open, and I ask them if they are messing with plumbing, which I already knew the answer, by all the noise they've been making. They said yes, but they barely speak English, so I couldn't really discuss anything more with them:headache:.

I storm over to my best friends/insurance agent, in the same plaza as me, and I have a fit:mad:. If this is happening now, what is to come later????? (I'm extremely unhappy about this restaurant opening, because it's going to make store smell of Chinese food - that is not the image I want my store to have):sad2:

She calls the landlord, who owns a very highend martini bar in this plaza, and she said it is a problem with the roof, and the bar got flooded out last night (they are estimating $200,000 worth of damage:eek:). She said it was raining buckets in the bar. One hole was over the Chinese place, and flooded them out, and the water came in through the bottom of the wall - not good!!!!:sad2:

I go back to the store, and go into my office/playroom for the girls/storage for inventory, and that carpet is soaking wet along with everything on the floor I then go to the front of the store, and that carpet is wet also:eek:

The roof guy came in and apologized, and said that he will have someone come in and clean the carpet today. That's fine, but I had to move everything into my workspace, and now I can't work. Worse yet, my employee can't work now, so I'm going to have to pay her to do her homework. I don't want to shut down, because we can still help customers that want to place new orders.

After the cleaning guys came, he advised being shut down, because of the HUGE fans that need to be out front, and the noise they'll make. Plus, I had to take frame sample off my carpeted wall,, because that carpet is coming off the wall, because of the wall being wet (it will need to be replaced:guilty:). The store will now be shut down until maybe Wednesday:headache: because after the carpet is dry, they need to clean it.

This whole thing is such a pain in the arss!!!! Thank God I didn't have more water damage, because I have people's very valuable things here. The owner of the bar said it was literally raining in the bar, because of the water coming through the ceiling there. If that would have happened here, it would have been a nightmare. It's one thing when your stuff is ruined, but when it's other's, that's much worse.

So that was my Friday :headache:
I did not have a good day!!!!!:sad2:

So, now Kevin and I need to start making a list of everything that was damaged, what needs to be replaced, and money lost by all this:headache: I'm praying that the contractor, that did this damage, will settle up fast so I can get my store back to normal.

Slo - Yikes I am sorry. That is not fun. Hang in there.

Not much going on with my WDW planning. I have to get through tonight's slumber party for my DD8 - soon to be DD9. :scared1:

After that it is going to be all Disney all the time.;)

I did do online check in.

Off to finishing getting ready for the party.

Oh my gosh Slo! How exhausting :faint:

Sorry to hear you have to put up with that! I hate when stupid stuff like that happens and sets you back :headache: Good thoughts coming your way that it all gets fixed soon!

@Blue - have fun with DD at her slumber party! You must be so excited for your trip

Slo So sorry to hear about your store problems. I hope you are able to get it all fixed and open again soon.

Well I spoke to my SIL yesterday and my niece/nephew is due on April 1st. They have decided to wait until the birth to find out if it is a girl or a boy.

DanaUK....I know how you can get rid of the gibberish in your signature.

Go to your user CP and click on edit signature. When you get there...don't edit anything just click on save or ok or whatever it says....it should go away then.

.

I didn't realise I had gibberish in my signature, it looks the same as it always has to me!! But I followed your advice ibouncetoo so I hope it looks OK now. I wonder what caused that?

:thumbsup2 It worked.

Don't know, but it was happening to a mess of UK people and started about two days ago. We even had total posts of gibberish on the transatlantic cruise thread. Those kids had to go 'fake' an edit (like you just 'faked' a siggy change) and the posts were corrected. :confused3

It's 4AM here and I'm annoyingly awake. Hoping I can go back to sleep in an hour or so, otherwise there will be a nap scheduled for this afternoon!

Thanks for the help, I hope you get back to sleep soon. It is 12:40pm here in the UK and I am just having my lunch (tacos with beef), I have spent all morning doing school work and house work. But we are going to the cinema in 5 hours to see Toy Story 3D!

You should have come over here. There were 5 little ladies who were looking for fun until 2am.

Did you all survive?

I did go back to bed from 5-something to 8-something, so at least I won't be spending the day feeling all draggy.

I have a bit of rant, so please skip if you want.

OF just called and said he talked to the pharmacy a few minutes ago. There's a problem with the allergy meds the kids are on - our new insurance won't cover it because they don't make it. WHAT!!!! Now we have to see if there's some alternative to because the insurance company - or rather the pharmacy that the insurance company owns - doesn't make what we've been using. Seems to me this is becoming a monopoly of sorts. Now not only do we have the government dictating medical care but insurance companies tell us what meds to use, too. I know insurance would charge higher copays for some meds over others, but now they're not even covering. Geez.

Seems that it doesn't matter whether you have insurance or not these days because you're gonna pay an arm and a leg no matter what.

Okay, rant over. Back to the regular chit chat...

That's why a large majority are backing universal health care. Because we pay for insurance and yet we still have so many medical costs we have to cover ourselves. Not to mention we can be dropped at any time if we get sick. I have G.E.R.D and every single time I go to fill my prescription the insurance companies try to tell me that I don't need it and they don't want to cover it so i have to call the doctor and get him to set it straight blah blah blah.

That is why I am so glad we have a national health care system in the UK. Prescriptions for children and retired people are free (you can get any medication prescribed by any doctor at any chemist). For adults who work we pay about $10 per prescription and people who are on benifits get redused costs (although you can get 6 month cards for umlimited medicines which works out cheaper if you get quite a few prescription a month.) Plus we don't have hospital bills, if you break a bone, it is fixed for free, if you need an operation, it is free. We do pay for this service in our taxes, but it is good to know that the service is there if you need it.

It's a shame that we don't have that kind of care here. People are too scared to even approach universal healthcare. It's a lot of propaganda to keep the health insurance companies rich. But you won't get any change with people telling all these lies about universal health care. We don't even know what we're missing but we won't change because that's the way it's always been.
