Error on XT

Hi everyone and thanks for all the great information and pictures on this board.

I just bought a Canon Rebel XT this past week, and I decided to try my Sigma 28-200 lens on it. (I knew from this board that it probably wouldn't work.) I was able to take about a dozen pictures on it and then I started getting an error 99 message. Does this mean that the lens will not work with the camera?

Oh, and it seems as though you need to have your pictures on a website before you can post them on here, is that correct?

I can answer your second question... yes, you need to have them hosted somewhere. You can use a photo hosting site like PhotoBucket, another option is that many/most internet providers give you a little bit of web space for a small web site, you can store a few photos there, but that might be a little more complex if you're not comfortable with FTPing and other such things.

For the first, you should probably contact Sigma, they may be able to correct this issue for you.

an error 99 message means that the camera and lens are not communicating. You probably need to have the lens rechipped. As long as your not getting it with any other lenses, your camera itself is fine.
