Error in DCL's 125% FCC credit calculation

Hi everyone, DCL just offered us the 125% FCC for our cancelled cruise but it's far less than it should be. It looks like they only offered the credit for my wife and I, but not for our two kids. Has anyone had a similar experience? This is an error, right? Thanks!

I think the credit is applied to the cruise costs and not the tax, port fees, etc, so it may not be a complete 125% of what was paid, but should increase based on that proportion of the actual cruise cost...i could be wrong.

you’re right. They will refund the fees/taxes to original form of payment. Then the 25% is based on the cabin cost for each cruiser. The fcc is only the cabin cost per cruiser and 25% of that amount. Been there, done that.

I do recall a couple of earlier posts where the credit had only been applied for the first 2 guests. You'll need to call and have them check/correct it.

Thanks. So they refund the taxes/fees to my credit card, but then I have to pay the taxes/fees on my rebooked cruise? This isn't as straightforward as I was hoping.

Also, thanks lanejudy...my TA is calling DCL right now. I'll let you know what I learn.

Yes, DCL will refund the taxes/fees. If your credit is enough to cover the fare+taxes+fees for the rebooked cruise, nothing more is owed (and any leftover credit will be OBC). If the credit is not enough to cover all of that, you will have a balance due for the difference. The credit is applied per-passenger - so if any passenger originally booked will not be on the new cruise, a portion of the credit remains with that passenger for future use; if you add any new who wasn't on the original booking, the credit cannot be used for the new passenger's fare.

Clear as mud?

I don’t know about the tax/fees. About a week after my cruise got canceled my refund for tax/fee showed up without me doing anything. I decided to pass on the fcc after taking a couple of weeks to think about it and looked at other cruises. I ended up taking the refund which only took about 10 days to show up.

That's how it worked for me. I received a refund of the taxes and fees for the cancelled cruise, and the credit covered the fare, taxes and fees for the new cruise I hope will happen next year.

Thanks for the help everyone! You're all correct. They refunded the taxes, fees, and prepaid gratuities and applied the FCC to the new cruise (which was also used to pay the new taxes, fees, gratuity). The unused amount of the FCC is in our account for excursions, spending, etc. I even made a spreadsheet to make sure it's all correct and every penny was accounted for.
