Errg, my band teacher! (Vent)

I take a class at the Y mon-thurs. I love them, and it's really rare for me to enjoy exercise. Well, we have to play at every home varsity game for band. It's so stupid, it's a lot of sitting around and waiting, we play at halftime, when the stands are empty becasue of concessions, and we play the national anthem. Our band director gets so mad if we miss, and my class is apparently not an acceptable excuse. We only have 80 something kids in the band. Not to mention, I hate basketball!

Well it's only fair. Afterall, I'm sure the basketball coach makes the entire basketball team come to all your band concerts and cheer for you guys. Right??

I'm sorry you have to play at sporting events. My husband was in band in high school, and while he loved playing an instrument, he definitely didn't enjoy marching season and going to every single football game (esp. the cold ones ).

Hang in there, and look on the bright side. At least basketball is inside where it's warm . And on an even brighter note, you know how to play an instrument AND read music. I am now 35, and learning an instrument is the #1 thing I wish I had taken advantage of in high school.

Ha I loved band...didnt care if it was for football or basketball...I just liked playing.

Oh, I love playing, don't get me wrong. I just prefer concert to pep band. Pep stuff gets so annoying.

I know what you mean. We don't have to play at basketball games, though. We only have to play in the freezing cold football games. Once football season is over, marching band is pretty much over except for a big parade downtown and Disney every other year and then a memorial day parade every year. Hang in there. It will be over soon.
