Can anyone tell me what the river keel boats are and if it is worth seeing the Lion King Show? Thanks

I haven't been lucky enough to see the keel boats running yet, but its on my list to do.

The Lion King show is a must IMO - its fantastic.

I agree.

The Lion King show is fantastic and a "must do" for us. Just back from Disney at the weekend. This time we were late arriving to get in the queue (came from Studios after doing Tower of Terror) so grabbed a table in cafe hyperion (?) instead, bought some drinks and chips and watched it from there. Seen it twice before but thought it was just as brilliant the third time. :lmao:

Hoping to get a chance to go on the keel boats this summer.

IMHO Lion King is a must do :thumbsup2

Is the Lion King at DLP the same as at AKL in Orlando? Its one of our favorite shows!

We did the keelboats last visit, they run around Big Thunder Mountain in the same expanse of water as the big Riverboats, they seat about 2 dozen people, I have some pictures I'll load, but they're on my other PC.

There is narration during the trip, but I couldn't understand any of it, the microphone wasn't very good and I couldn't even tell you if it was in French or English :confused3 , it's quite relaxing and we got to go in tighter to the banks and coves than the Riverboats do, but I don't think the Keelboats are on tracks. If they're open do it, if not you're not really missing much. :)

No, it's quite different. At DLRP the audience is all sat together as in a traditional theatre, the show is much more like the Broadway version. I really enjoy the AKL show but IMO this one is even better. :thumbsup2

I'm adding my rec for the Lion King show. I have seen it in London & here, it is on a par with London.

The Show sounds really cool, am I right in thinking you have to get tickets for this and do you queue at the area where the show is for these and roughly how far in advance do you have to queue for the tickets? Think I read somewhere that you can eat in the nearby restaurant and watch the show of you miss getting a ticket.

I was there last week and we queued up about 1pm on Friday for the 1.15pm show, there were no tickets given out that I had seen. The show was fab as you are so close to the stage (although my 4 year old decided that she had had enough and slept the whole way through it:rotfl: ). We met other people who had been to late to get in who just went and got something to eat and sat in the seats above the theatre seats.

Another vote for the Lion King Show. You dont get tickets now but queue up outside - follow the signs but it was chaos getting a seat - read my latest trip report -(Part 5 I think). Its absolutely excellent though. You can watch it from the eating area but its better from the actual theatre IMHO.

The keel boats are in Frontierland and the entrance is near the Pocahontas play area

The river keel boats were running last sunday. we went on Coyote, it goes around much faster than the river boats.
The CM at the front of the queue did a magic trick with coins while we were waiting, first in french for the family in front and then on hearing we were english repeated it all again in english.

Just looked out the photo I took.
