Day 6, Thursday August 30th
Today was yet another day of sleeping in. We had no plans until our Fantasmic package at 5:15. We decided to head over to MGM for the morning again, I was craving another ride on RNR. Again, first stop was to pick up some fastpasses, this time I got 4. The standby time was only 15 minutes this morning, and considering it was after 10 when we got there, I was surprised. Dh saw the standby line for Tower of Terror said 13 minutes. I could not believe that was accurate at this time of the morning, but told him to go ahead and try it if he wanted to, we would hit the shops and he could call us when he was done. Sure enough, it was almost a walk on. This was his first ride, and he finally believed me now, that I could never ride this ride. I HATE drops! Our fastpass time was here already, so he went first. He got in so quickly, he was out in about 12 minutes. In that 12 minutes I decided I had to have the tie dyed RNR t-shirt LOL. Now for my turn, I walked straight into the studio room, and from there, right out into a car! I was amazed how fast I got on. Again, being alone got me on the ride faster. As we were in the launching area, the music turned off. Hmmm, I was talking to the woman next to me, advising her to keep her head back, when they announced the cars were stopped and would resume soon. So we sat for a few minutes talking, and I assumed the music would come back on and we would get our countdown. Wrong! Right I the middle of a sentence, off we went like a rocket. Wow, what a surprise that was LOL. Again though, I had gotten through so fast that we both went again. We got in 4 rides, 2 each, in about 45 minutes. It was great. I was glad I went the second time, as it loses something without the music and Steven Tyler screaming backwards from 5 in your ears. When I went for my last ride, I told them to go ahead and head for Pizza Planet, and I would grab a potato for dd and meet them there. On my way there I grabbed another fastpass for Star Tours for ds. I also saw Cinderella on my way there, and was sad that Alexa wasn't with me to see her. She had been hoping to see her. We finished our lunch, and the kids were begging for the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. It had been closed in December, and we had been avoiding this trip. We gave in this time and gave them 10 minutes. It is so cute in there, and I think my kids are old enough that they can be pretty much let loose in here. They are both afraid of heights so they didn't make it too far in the net area. Alexa got stuck, and kids just kept trampling right over her. Literally, stepping on her. Not one kid bothered to wait to see if she could get her foot unstuck, or if she needed help. Luckily I was right there, and saw this, so I could go get her out. Matthew had tried to keep climbing, and Alexa started sobbing "I want my brother" LOL, this was definitely a first (and probably a last). He didn't make it very far anyway, before his fear of heights took over LOL. The boys took their ride on Star tours, and Alexa and I went to hit the stores again, but lo and behold, Cinderella was still there. And we only had to wait for 1 person to see her. Another woman and her daughter tried to walk in front of us, but I told her the line was behind us. She knew it and was just being rude. Then I noticed Belle was there too! We went to her next, and the same woman tried to cut in front of us again. And, her daughter was probably 12. It didn't work, I just pushed Alexa over to Belle in front of her. Then they said Belle had to leave, so the other woman didn't get to see her at all LOL. Alexa was so happy to see some Princesses, poor things, they looked SOOO hot (and I mean temperature). Alexa had been begging for a Mylar Mickey balloon, so I finally bought her one now. Then I bought myself a Mickey case for my Palm Pilot. When I looked at it on Monday, it was $12, today it was $5.99! I must have been meant to buy it LOL. We bought a couple of shirts for the kids and went back for our daily swim. After swimming, we cleaned up and went to Hollywood and Vine for dinner. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, and I swear another 15 for our drinks LOL. We had eaten a quarter of our food before our drinks finally arrived. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the German chocolate cake they had last time. I had been looking forward to that our whole trip. Oh well. While we waited for the bill, I ran to the first aid building to have a rash checked out that I had developed over the last couple of days. I had heard about the leg rash but this was my arms, the worst on the back of my left hand. They put some calamine on it for me. After dinner we grabbed fastpasses for the last showing of the Little Mermaid and finally did the backlot tour. To my surprise they had actually changed it after 11 years. We were glad they put live people back to get wet. It was perfect timing for our showing of Mermaid, which would be done just in time to go in the gate for Fantasmic with our dinner passes. Once again, my dd was completely mesmerized by the show. There were a ton of noisy people in the audience, grown ups and kids talking loudly through the whole show. I found that rather annoying. As we walked over to the theatre, we saw it. Lightening. Uh oh. We get to the gate with our passes, where we encounter our only rude CM of our trip. She had opened the gate wide open and people were not in a single file line. She is screaming at people "either line up right, or I am going to shut the gate'. Then someone must have asked her about the lightening, cuz she starts screaming again. "You will be on metal bleachers, in a metal open air stadium, and if that bothers you, then you might as well leave". We went in anyway. Strike two. The lightening was getting worse, and my ds, who hates storms, was getting worried. After several minutes, they made the announcement, "due to electrical activity, please leave the area immediately for your own safety". At this point ds starts to cry. It was quite the light show, black skies and tons of lightening. We decided to wait for awhile in some shops. They said sometimes they'll show it late if it blows over. This was so awful, we have no had so much as a drop of rain all week, then this. And after we paid $60 some dollars on dinner. Dd was sad again, but she was a trooper. After about a half hour we gave up and decided to leave. When we got to the front gates, we saw large line of people coming out of guest services. I asked a CM and he said people were probably trying to get rainchecks, and that sometimes they might give them out. We decided it was worth a try, so they went back to the hotel on the boat and I stood in line. It took about 15 minutes, but sure enough, I got a pass for reserved seating tomorrow night! I was so glad I waited. On the way back I could still see a lot of lightening in the distance, but there was no thunder, and after all that, it still never rained a drop LOL.
